More like the best sellers from 2019 really. Just 2 of the Top 10 were actually released in 2020.
Ridiculous how much weighting is given to passive streaming and streams of whole albums, and how little to active streaming and purchasing.

If only this chart was announced on the radio, just like 2018...

While I highly doubt that anything will be able to match the absolute incredibleness of 2019 in music for me, 2020 still actually turned out pretty good for music, especially with amazing albums such as 'After Hours' releasing! In terms of this chart, the average actually turned out to be 0.43% higher than 2019's re-ordering, even though I much prefer 2019 for music overall. There's 3 reasons for this really: first, The Greatest Showman tracks are no longer in the Top 100 & pulling down the average, second, there's still plenty of 2019 tracks in this chart which get high ratings for me (including my entire Top 3 and 8 of my 11 10/10s), and third, 2019 just had more music that I loved that didn't make the Top 100 and therefore didn't affect the average.

This year a very high 80 tracks managed to score a 7/10 or higher, up from 76 last year, and only 8 tracks fell below half score, which is actually the same amount that fell under last year! So yeah, 2020 was another good year for hit music, in my opinion!

I swear No Time To Die is the song that has been served the biggest injustice. Only one week at number 1, kept falling after that week, only 63 in the EOY chart! For the best song of the year (imo), that is criminal

So many crossovers from 2019. Nevertheless, It's lovely. In the midst of all the turbulence 2020 had, there was still a lot good music to groove too.

I think everyone knew Blinding Lights would be #1 of the year even months before the year finished

Finally, they are up! I guess it’s time for some awards then…

Song of the year - This was hard! I ended up shortlisting it to 5 songs, which were No Time to Die, Blinding Lights, Roses, Head & Heart and Lonely. I went with No Time to Die because Billie is just so good throughout the song! I honestly was lost when I had to decide this, so the fact that I came up with a winner is something in itself! Say So, Levitating, Mood, Break My Heart and Breaking Me were so close to the top 5 as well, so shoutout to those songs too.

Album of the year - Future Nostalgia. All day long. Too good an album for me not to put it number 1.

Artist of the year - Dua Lipa. A world-class album, compiled with great single choices, gave the award to Dua. The Weeknd was close, but Dua topped him because of album quality.

Best new artist of the year: Joel Corry. Three brilliant singles, including a fully-deserved number 1, are what made this year such a great one for Joel.

Disappointment of the year - Jason Derulo. Two songs summarise this: Savage Love and Take You Dancing. If he released more, better music then he would have redeemed himself but such a poor year from him.

Overachiever of the year - Lewis Capaldi. I’m sorry but two songs in the top 10 of the year, without releasing a single, notable single in 2020, is too much. I like Capaldi, but come on.

Underachiever of the year - Couldn’t think of one! Let me know if you have one that I have terribly forgotten.

OVERALL RATING OF 2020 (in terms of music that is): 9.5/10. Brilliant year, coming from an EDM fan. The quality of music that has come from the likes of The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish and many artists on the rise or not spoken about a lot (such as Tate McRae and Saint JHN) prove my rating. Not quite a 10/10 purely because of the fact that 2018 was a better year than this one in my opinion, but 2020 would easily be number 1 if 2018 didn’t exist.
