Soo, soo happy to see Kylie getting her first top ten hit in 14 years!!! It's sublime! I always know that I'm a bit intense on Kylie, but the fact of this resurgence on the Official Charts after 36 years of career in Pop music, make us, the loyal fans, extremely happy. You are all so young, as it was me when I knew Kylie, 14 years in 1987, and still a big fan of her.

VULGAR only at number 69!! not as good as UNHOLY but still..love the single!!

Because both artists are in tour mode. No video or performances, no CDs or cassettes, extended versions. Hardly surprising given all things considered.

She should never have lowered herself to recording with him. It speaks volumes that his latest album spent like 5 weeks in the top 100. Her compilation of remixes of her greatest hits keeps re-entering and has spent over 6 months. It's him! He's vile!

4

TINA TURNER remaining in the chart with her sublime THE BEST for another week...yippee....

BTS only at number 59 with TAKE TWO??!! i don't like much K POP music but that band has had many great singles over the last few years: ie: BUTTER...

Finally HOW DOES IT FEEL has made the Top 75!! how time!! love TOM!!

What is happening to ED?? Not only EYES CLOSED is dropping so fast..didn't make the Top 10 in USA but his new album is even dropping faster..worlwide!! end of "his" era??

For an album that has music videos for each single, you would expect it to still be at #1 for miles. And plus it's a lot better than =

DIAL DRUNK only at number 45! Hope NOAH gets more known soon!! Such an underrated artist...

CALM DOWN isn't dropping fast enough!! when is this awful single going back on ACR??!!

avatar

Taylor Swift = 10/10

Pretty sure it's on 0WD still lol, the reason it dropped this week was because of a bunch of new entries, so I wouldn't be surprised if Calm Down peaked at #1 by 2030 lol

Kylie has far better in my opinion and I find Padam Padam awful but at least that made the Top 10 instead of Pretty Boys by Caity Baser lol

Loads of big pluses for me this week, starting with DOD's 'so much in love' climbing, really hope this takes off quickly while it's still summer! Obviously climbing again for Rudemental, Kylie,Hannah Lang (top 10 next week for sure), Jorja Smith, Dawe, Corrie & Henderson great new entry, good to see Sam Fender back even though it is his biggest track showing up again, awesome to see Shania Twain with Anne Marie climbing into top 40 with 'unhealthy' great track.Be expecting Tom Grennan to hit top 40 with 'how does it feel' next week with his album at No.1. Lastly hoping Gorgon City's 'voodoo' can climb higher this time, another great edm track which is underrated and should be higher!

What is that sh it about at number 1? It’s obvious its position placement has been paid for. The charts a joke now.

R

Revan

2

Agreed. Personally i think most of the songs lower down are way better than the top ones. The top 2 are just awful imo. I prefer melody over one night wonders. The problem is this chart is heavily stacked for the younger generation, but they'll be thinking the same when they get older and their favourite artists are also not doing so well. That's why i don't care for who is higher in position, i care about what i personally like and of kids don't agree, i don't care, lol.

It’s going to stay there for another couple of weeks as it has huge numbers. Only Olivia Rodrigo will shift it when she drops her new song

See 1 & 2 are now occupied by talking songs with lift music as backing tracks. On sales talking song 2 enters at 10 while talking song 1 actually drops to 28. Meanwhile Kylie still number 1 for 4th week on sales. mmm!

Couldn't agree more. Im glad im not alone in my concerns. I still like to follow the charts, but i don't think the singles charts as what they used to be. Album's are better, because it doesn't get so effected by streams and airplay.

Cher and Lulu did it across those decades too apparently

avatar

Blank

0

Cher did, but Lulu needed 2 collaborations in her most recent decades to match the feat.

B

BettyBoo

4

An amazing achievement to be only the fourth female artist to achieve this. A real celebration. Great time to be a Kylie fan (once again!). Lovely that she’s also appealing to a whole new generation and still feels relevant (a rare feat if you are a 50+ artist). Already feels like an iconic song! Proof that you can come back as a ‘legacy artist’ if you have a killer song, great video…and be a hit. Top 5 next? I’m not ruling it out in the next couple of weeks… Padam ♥️

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

Sadly for Kylie, its a UK achievement only. Most likely because nobody really knows her outside the UK unlike Madonna who's landed in the US billboard top 40 this week and joins Cher as the only artist in US to have top 40 singles across 5 decades... Australia & the UK too

avatar

Mathew Northcote

0

Kylie has had had top 40 hits over 5 decades in Australia but this is top 10 so it's really good, so I'd say deal with it and it's obviously irked you so job well done I'd say😂

avatar

Mathew Northcote

1

I'm sorry to disappoint you but Popular is 43 in the USA this week. So no top 40 over 5 decades in the USA. You must be mixing it up with the oldest female to have hits over 5 decades. Pity you have to lie to big her up lol.

avatar

Lars Van Moer

2

We know Kylie very well in the Low Countries (Belgium and the Netherlands) although as far as I know she has not had a hit single over here for some years now ... But she is and remains very well known !

P

Popular

-1

All that and she still hasn't broken Madonna's UK record for number one singles and albums, not only here, but in every other part of the world.

avatar

Mathew Northcote

1

Mariah Carey has had more number ones singles than Madonna in the USA and Barbra Streisand has most top 10 albums in the USA and sold the most records. Celine Dion is the most successful female in France and Canada. So she is not number one everywhere. I live in the UK so only the UK charts I'm bothered about.

P

Popular

0

Now you want to talk about the US?

Ask Google: Who is the most successful female recording artist of all time. and the answer will likely be...

"Madonna - The Queen of Pop, Madonna, is the bestselling female artist of all time. She's released 14 studio albums, three soundtracks, five live albums and six compilations, plus 63 UK Top 10 singles. Since 1983, she's sold an estimated 335 million albums and singles worldwide"

Not Mariah, not Barbra, and definitely not Kylie.

avatar

Mathew Northcote

0

Yes she is but not the best selling in every country or broken records in every country. There are some female artist on the UK chart broken records Madonna has not. It works both ways.

avatar

Jack fitsy

1

Madonna makes history with new song Popular as she becomes first woman since Cher to debut on Billboard Hot 100 in five different decades. And the song is rising. Worlds largest music market where is smiley kylie?? In Australia even if her new album hits number 1 she wont achieve what Madonna has as she failed to top the album charts in the 80s and scraped through the 90's with just 1. Local act

avatar

Mathew Northcote

0

Yes 100 not 40 as you previously said. Kylie's done it in the UK but top 10 and the UK is one of the big music markets and I live in the UK so that's what I concentrate on.

C

Cloudbuster

0

Please don't take us for fools. The only reason you want to concentrate on the UK is because Kylie's a non entity everywhere else bar here. Australia isn't even interested in her anymore. LOL

Which reminds in that Market Madonna has 13 number 1 singles (Kylie just 7), 63 top 10 hits (kylie just 36), 73 top 40 singles (kylie just 52), 78 top 75 singles (kylie just 59), 12 number 1 albums (kylie just 8), 23.5 million albums sold as of March 2023 in the UK, Kylie just 11 million. 19.8 million singles sold as of March 2020, Kylie just 8 million.... Her new novelty single wont change the above. Tiny wins in a much bigger picture. Anything Madonna does at 10 years Kylies senior is just adding to that chasm! Will Kylie be having top 40 hits in 10 years time??? LOL I wont go global btw. Madonna has sold more albums in the US than Kylie globally.... her Immaculate Collection has just passed 12 million there (including music club sales) & Like A Virgin is on course to be her next 12 million seller there pushing her past Mariah Carey. Madonna has another 14 albums to be certified there and many more in the UK. 👑👑👑👑👑

How come her last three albums have reached number one in Australia and she is in the top 30 in the singles chart and climbing. Hardly failing lol

Er, no! Cher did it first and then Diana Ross. These lies need to stop.

I can't wait for the certifications. Didn't Madge say she sold 400 m on Jimmy Fallon?

The only artist to have a top 10 single and a Number one album in 5 decades. Cher and Diana Ross haven't had number one albums in 5 decades. It's quite easy to read and understand but obviously your intelligence is not that good lol it's really getting to you so job well done 😂😂😂

C

Cloudbuster

0

Nah babe, Maybe if I had actually read it properly instead of assuming you were talking out of your hole yet again, I would've understood, but fact remains this is just the UK, and her one and only #1 of the 90s was a GH's. She doesn't have this so called record anywhere else. The only ones who care are bald headed, old queens with faces like wrinkly scrotums. lol

avatar

Jack fitsy

1

LOL and my how she just scraped that small achievement! Only 1 number album in the 90's & the 00's. Of which 1 was a greatest hits. Only 5 of her studio albums topped the UK charts.

Madonna remains the UKs most successful female solo touring & recording artist. Incredibly she has 7 albums that have sold over a million each, 2 of which have sold over 2.5 million, and 3 more which have sold over 900'000. None of her albums have missed the top 10.

avatar

Jack fitsy

1

Exactly.... but kylie has had a top 10 single in 5 decades. And a number 1 album in 5 decades. JUST! Lol Take away her huge number of greatest hits and she has a number 1 album in just 4

avatar

Mathew Northcote

0

6 studio albums topped the charts and 10 for Madonna then if you exclude greatest hits. Madonna was also out in 1983 and Kylie 1988 so she's been out longer.

avatar

Mathew Northcote

-1

If she's the only artist to achieve it then it's not a small achievement 😂😂If it was was Madonna you would say a huge achievement. She has achieved two records Madonna has not and as for singles I doubt she will ever achieve. You really can't stand it can you 😂😂😂

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

Awwww bless! A chart record nobody cares about! Lol Kylie wont ever achieve what Madonna has... over 20 million album sales in the UK, 19 million singles sales. Australias most successful female artist of all time. Madonna has a number 1 album in 5 decades in Australia and with 8 years left of this decade she'll most likely achieve that in the UK, US, Canada too. Also, of all Kylies albums released only 5 studio albums have hit number 1 in the UK Vs Madonnas 10 UK number 1 studio albums 😂😂😂

I dont think kylie will achieve that... here or elsewhere.

C

Cloudbuster

0

and Madonna's achieved things Kylie doesn't have a hope in of getting - like most successful female recording artist of all time and highest grossing female touring artist, but good for Kylie for scoring some meaningless UK record. lol

C

Cloudbuster

0

All this aside, her Spotify numbers are pitiful. Madonna is now on her way to 40m monthly listeners. lol

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

And kylie has released the same volume, more in fact with under half the sales and half the success rate. No studio album hit number 1 of hers in the UK during the 90's and only 1 during the 00's .... Madonna? 3 during the 80's, 2 during the 90's, 4 during the 00's 1 during the 10's.... a success rate Kylie cannot match

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

Yet despite putting out more albums than Madonna in the UK, with twice the amount of hits collections & retrospectives, Kylie has under half the albums & singles sale of her idol? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

avatar

Mathew Northcote

😂😂😂the thing that's meaningless is you 😂😂

😂😂😂😂

avatar

😂😂😂I'll wait to see her car crash tour if she bothers turning up or cancels😂😂😂😂

avatar

Jack fitsy

Why on earth would she not turn up after selling over 1.5 million tickets around the globe... with more dates to come??? Madonna has never cancelled a tour or not turned up in her 40 year career. If she had, where else would kylie have gotten her ideas from?? In fact the only car crash tour was Kylies festival add on tour... truly embarrassing for her. Imagine being relegated to guest appearances at festivals in the UK, such iconic venues as Lytham St Annes . 😂😂😂😂 she didn't tour because nobody was interested. Her Kiss Me Once Tour was an utter flop. Mauled by critics with her stiff non existent dance moves, basic cheap sets and nasal thin voice.... kylie and touring? Maybe she shouldnt turn up 😬😬😬

Such a legend!!!!!! Its absolutely true!!

As much as I do love Kylie, I guess she didn't have a top ten hit in the '10s.....

She did All the lovers in 2010 and Higher in 2011

avatar

Damián

Ohh thanks Matt, I forgot the wonderful All The Lovers!!!. Thanks buddy!!!

avatar

Mathew Northcote

At least Kylie's is top 10 in 5 decades not top 100, so if nobody cares about Kylie's then neither do people about Madonna's top 100 in 5 decades 😂😂😂😂

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

What people care about most is achievements that matter, not achievements barely scraped through like the one Kylie has in just little old blightey. Is it even an achievement given she wont hold it for as long??? Or as long as Madonna has been the worlds biggest selling female recording & touring artist? Madonna being the UK's & Australias highest selling, most successful female recording artist must hurt... as if basic Kylie will ever come close 😂😂😂😂

avatar

Blank

Doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. A win is a win.

avatar

Blank

0

And a #1 album in Australia is about as much as barely scraping the top 100 here. At least if the levels of Platinum sales are anything to go by: 1m to 1989 (300k since) vs 70,000 in Australia: little more than a UK Silver. It is a tiny market, and part of the reason I concentrated on UK only.

avatar

Blank

0

WHy would she not turn up? Same reason Michael Jackson didn't turn up to his 2009 sell-out world tour.

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

In which case Madonna won by a trillion miles when she became the worlds best selling most successful female recording artist of all time back in 1998

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

How about the US & UK markets??? Kylie is nowhere near Madonna's level in either or Japan & Germany for that matter

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

Madonna has turned up to every single one of her tours. Kinda the reason why shes the most succesful female touring artist of all time.

avatar

Blank

0

But yet still doesn't hold this UK record. Oh well.

avatar

Blank

0

I haven't checked the US chart since the year began with a '1'. I only care for the UK market and it has nothing to do with either Madonna or Kylie. UK, or more accurately, England is my ancestral home. The songs and recordings that have been popular over the last 71 years and the charts of them refelct my culture and identity. If it's world-unique and/or very differnt to the rest of the world, all the better. UK has probably the most diverse music and dynamic industry in the world: more artists, more styles develop here than anywhere else. We're usually the global launching pad for minority international styles (reggae, Chicago and acid house, Hi-NRG, trance to name a few), as well as our own unique original styles: UK garage, Drum n Bass, Grime, Synth-pop, Prog, Emo, glam, ambient (also later, by Icelandic acts) . The sort of stuff that seems to only be popular here.

US only likes rap, rock or country. Germany sometimes has a bigger market but is essentially the same as US with the odd genuinely local act (German only). Japan, even more so - hyper insular and Western artists having their own special category because they sell so few compared to the local acts and market.

You still have to qualify the claim with 'female'. Meaning there are males and groups ahead of her. Several of them in some cases.

avatar

Blank

0

Think about my MJ reference. A DJ friend of mine joked about having a sweepstake of how many of the 50 he would complete on the day of the announcement.

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

This isnt about males, we're talking FE-males

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

She holds more meaningful records such as the UK's highest selling female recording and touring artist of all time, who also happens to be the only female in the UKs overall too 10 highest selling artists. Oh well!

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

She does actually! For females Madonna has sold over 23 million certified albums & 19.5 million singles in the UK. Shes the only female in the UK top 10 of best selling artist. Oh well!

avatar

Mathew Northcote

1

And top 100 in 5 decades is scraped through. You brag about Madonna having top 100 in 5 decades and then Kylie top 10 in 5 decades is worthless. What really bugs you Kylie has gone top 10 while three songs with Madonna featured one has peaked at 21 one at 69 and one didn't chart at all with Christine and the Queen's 😂😂😂😂 Kylie kiss me once went Silver in 2014 you describe it as a flop then Madame X goes silver after 2 years it's a success. What's the difference? The only difference I see it didn't take two years for Kylie to go silver 😂😂😂

avatar

Mathew Northcote

0

Kylie won't hold it for long who else female has had a top 10 hit in the 80s,90s,00s is Madonna but no top ten in 10s or 20s and probably never again so nobody will match 5 decades from the 80s. Madonna can't because she's failed 2010s 😂😂😂😂

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

She holds the record as the biggest selling female recording artist in the UK and is the only female in the UK top 10 biggest selling artists of all time

avatar

David Carbines

0

And unlike the rest of the world, it's pretty much the only chart record she holds in the UK. Female or not. No single release (album or single) is the best selling, most weeks on chart or #1. Almost all of which is the 20th century, and none of which is related this week's chart!

avatar

David Carbines

-1

Correction, YOU'RE talking about females. I'm talking about all demographics who have hits. It is the top hundred, not the top female 100 afterall. Not many females in the top part of the chart this week. A complete contrast to March-May, when it was dominated (Miley, Mimi Webb, Pink, Taylor...)

avatar

David Carbines

0

Yeh, that's not a "top 10s in 5 decades" record.

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

I doubt many people hold records for this weeks 'chart'. But Madonna holds many more records in the UK none of which Kylie nor any other female does

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

Her Finally Enough Love remix album just broke UK chart records, with no Pomo and no new music plus no collab from younger artists. Its spent 34 weeks on chart & Popular sends her into the UK top 40 giving her a record breaking 78 top 40 hits. The most for any female and more than Elton or many other UK artists. Madonna holds more records collectively than any other solo act, before and after 4th decade.

avatar

Jack fitsy

1

Your point being??? Collectively, globally she's held more chart records, and held on to them longer than most other chart acts. Shes the worlds most successful female recording and touring artist, ever. In the US & UK only the Beatles surpass her. She still holds the most important chart records, many which were broken after the 2000's. Try harder.... before you get cancelled again

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

Shes not released studio music this decade which we're only 3 years into

avatar

Jack fitsy

0

Why?!

avatar

David Carbines

0

Don't need to release studio music to have a new top 10. Look at Kate Bush.

avatar

David Carbines

0

Considering trecords can usually only be held by one act at a time (unless in small discreet numbers, where ties are likely), that's hardly surprising.

avatar

David Carbines

I did wonder
