
Jorja Smith was born June 11, 1997, and is a British singer and songwriter from Walsall, West Midlands. Jorja Smith began writing songs at the age of 11, inspired by the Trojan and soul her parents filled the house with, and by the time she left school has amassed some 70 songs, and one of the earliest songs she recalled writing, High Street, was about a ghost town where there used to be some shops. Jorja Smith won the BRIT Critics' Choice Award, named Best British Female Artist the following year and was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Jorja Smith has featured on hit songs by Drake and Kali Uchis, as well as working with Stormzy, Burna Boy and Loyle Carner.
