the 90s music scene here in america was just bursting with amazing talent *& i mean amazing!* from every genre. on the hot 100 chart alone, i myself saw: pop, country, r & b, rock, rap, alternative, grunge, dance dominate the top 10 year after year. and then the internet came about in the u.s. around 1996 *we all didn't have aol (america online) all at once* and it was so cool to see the billboard charts on your computer. so here's a batch of 90s hits, some you might have heard some you might not :D, enjoy everyone:

1. arrested development/people everyday-1992: https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=cGusP7aCCYc

2. color me badd/all 4 love-1992 *1 of my fave acts back then! them and michael jackson would be in the top 2 spots on the hot 100 chart...lots of fun!*: https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=gaJtHeLXqJs

3. hi-five/i like the way (kissing game)-1991 *i'm the same age as the lead singer tony thompson and this is 1 of the best songs i've ever heard on the radio*: https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=IdlVihTRgfM

4. leann rimes/how do i live-1997: https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=1Olo8gzgpC4

5. cher/believe *big hit over here!*-1998: https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=n7wvAEDOxAs

6. hootie & the blowfish/let her cry-1994: https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=rybl57iLSjY

7. ace of base/all that she wants-1992: https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=HGbGmoIPb-o

8. pm dawn/set adrift on memory bliss-1991*1 of my all time fave songs, when i first got into the hot 100 chart, this was still in the top 10...lots of fun times!* : https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=iKEBY33gBXI

9. next/too close-*big hit over here!*-1998: https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=oee2t4NROj8

10. bone thugs n harmony/tha crossroads *i loved seeing this @ #1..something like 7 straight wks!*-1996: https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=cJWYTetgsns

i have noticed that suddenly big chart names : Ellie Goulding - Jess Glynne and Rita Ora are struggling to have success although their recent works are good ...What happened ? 🤔

their hype just died out because of them not making music for a while, also Rita Ora had that whole lockdown controversy + Jess Glynne is pretty much hated nowadays due to Hold My Hand

yeah - is definitely a step up from ÷ and = for me as well, not quite on the same level as + and × but still very good

only a matter of time until AH overtakes Giaw on my last fm as well lol it's currently 1,449 to 1,496

‘Rush’, ‘Princess Diana’ and ‘Escapism’ on the way out of the Top 40 are all massive Ls, but at least the latter had an incredible run.

Congratulations to ‘People’ for topping my rankings for the first time. :)

‘See You Again’ just became Tyler’s second highest charting song in the UK. :)

Hopefully it can enter the Top 20 (20-20-20 visionnn) later in the month! 🤞

As someone who went into ‘-‘ with mixed expectations… I’m honestly kind of impressed.

I appreciate how personal and emotional the album is in the writing and that there aren’t really any tracks that are trying too hard to hit the commercial market or get excessive radio airplay. It seems a lot more gentle and heartfelt.

I also love the mostly acoustic instrumentation, especially a return to the folk inspirations!

Yeah, this is a side of Ed I can get behind. One of his best albums to date for me! ❤️

it’s so much better than divide and =. and sure, it can get quite schmalzy at times because, well, it’s ed, but it feels like he actually put his heart into this and stripping things back was such a good idea. now just imagine hearing salt water as rain is pattering on your window…

avatar

Piran

Idk why but I seem to have a connection with 'Boat'. If there's a track on the album that's really going to grow on me over the weeks ahead, it's this one!

What the heck was I thinking putting in the Meh Tier when it debuted? 😭

H

No.6 Collaborations Project is his best imo.

Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Cardi, I liked her verse in it too. :)

Also, I had a massive obsession with Camila back around then! 😅

Nah, Divide is easilly his best, no fillers

avatar

Piran

A lot of the deeper cuts on 'Divide' bore me sadly, but it does have 'Castle On The Hill' and 'Galway Girl' on it which are two of his best singles to date! 😍

avatar

kittern

It could grow on me too.

avatar

Damián

I liked it too

R

Revan

Completely disagree with you there. They are 2 of the worst songs on Divide. If you don't connect with his slower songs, maybe you just haven't been in situations where you can connect with the lyrics. ( I don't presume to know your age, but if you haven't had your heart broken or been in love, i can understand why you wouldn't connect with the slower songs), or maybe your just not romantic, idk, either way, i love his slower ones. Shape of you is a great track too, the chord progression is a master class.

avatar

Piran

0

What? Just because I wasn’t a fan of the slower tracks on this particular album doesn’t mean I’m not a fan of that style of music nor that I’m not a romantic person or never been in romantic situations! 😩

R

Revan

Sorry i wasnt meaning you haven't, i did say i wasn't going to make assumptions, i was just saying that could be a valid argument, but it's ok, we all have different tastes

Congrats to her and Calvin for another week at the top! 🥳
