New Releases April 5 2024

Welcome to your New Music Friday round-up, here to serve you the biggest music and home entertainment releases of the week.

Following the success of breakout Number 1 track Beautiful Things, Washington singer-songwriter Benson Boone delivers his debut studio album Fireworks & Rollerblades. As well as his recent chart-topper, the record also includes the singles In The Stars, Ghost Town and Slow It Down.

The Libertines return with their first album in almost a decade; All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade. The follow-up to Number 3-peaking 2015 LP Anthems For A Doomed Youth sees Carl Barât, Pete Doherty, John Hassall and Gary Powell team up with French producer Dimitri Tikovoï, known for his work with everyone from Placebo to Nicola Roberts

Earlestown export The K’s release their first full-length collection I Wonder If The World Knows? this week. The group – Jamie Boyle, Ryan Breslin, Dexter Baker and Nathan Peers – already count the likes of Liam Gallagher, James and DMA’s as fans and are poised for a very promising 2024. Keep an eye on these lads.

Elsewhere, US rock duo The Black Keys serve up their 12th studio record Ohio Players. Featuring collaborations with Beck, Juicy J and Lil Noid, could the album earn Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney a sixth UK Top 10 next week?

Following the success of their 2022 work Bob Vylan Presents The Price Of Life, Bob Vylan are back with its follow-up Humble As The Sun. The duo – Bobby Vylan and Bobbie Vylan – will be hoping the record scores them a second UK Top 20.

Only God Was Above Us, New York-formed rock outfit Vampire Weekend's fifth studio release, is yours this week; including pre-release tracks Mary Boone, Classical, Capricorn and Gen-X Cops.

Finally, ahead of their Coachella reunion performance, No Doubt's Number 5-peaking hits compilation The Singles 1992-2003 is available on vinyl for the first time ever this week.

Now, let’s talk singles.

As she announces her 2024 UK arena tour, Charli XCX returns with two brand-new tracks. Following the glowing reception of lead single Von dutch, can Club classics and B2b earn Charli, baby two more Top 40 singles from her upcoming BRAT album?

With Kygo collaboration Whatever still riding high on the Official Singles Chart, Ava Max drops dance banger My Oh My; complete with a key change for the ages. Sound familiar? The track takes the infamous ‘Arabian riff’ melody (also known as The Streets Of Cairo or ‘the snake charmer song’). Just try getting that ‘da-da-da-da-da-da-da’ hook out of your head.

Following the song’s recent Top 10 success, Ella Henderson recruits Natasha Bedingfield for a brand-new remix of Rudimental collab Alibi (The Other Girl Version), as Beyoncé switches up UK Number 1 hit TEXAS HOLD ‘EM with the TEXAS HOLD ‘EM (PONY UP) REMIX.

Imagine Dragons unleash their first new material of 2024, Eyes Closed, while London Grammar return with sublime new single House.

Remember Hartlepool-born 2019 UK Eurovision entrant Michael Rice? Well, as he progresses to the next round of American Idol (!), he releases a cover of Adele’s Turning Tables, as performed on the US talent show, this week.
