4

Shame that ‘Oh Baby’ missed the Top 40 despite being there in the updates all week, but pleasantly surprised to see ‘Snooze’ make it in. :)

Would’ve preferred ‘Face In The Crowd’ to become the sleeper hit for Freya Ridings, but cool to see her gaining some traction again nonetheless, she’s very talented!

Congrats to them on their first #1 album in 17 years too! 😊

, I know you didn't like it, but it still surprises me! 😩

H

HazDaSprinter

1

gorillaz have better songs lmao

avatar

Jay

2

The singles chart is hardly a sign of quality, Queen had fewer number 1 singles than Westlife and One Direction!!!! Silent Running would have been a hit single 20 years ago, its just changing taste's. Great to see the album at number 1, I really like it

avatar

Jay

0

Silent Running and Possession Island are up there with some of Gorillaz best work, best album since Demon Days

avatar

Jay

3

I can only see two Gorillaz songs in top 100. Singles chart isn't about quality anyway. Are One Direction better than Queen because they had more number 1's? Silent Running would have been a big hit in 2005. I must admit I thought it would do better asa single but the album is more important for a 54 year old artist/writer like Damon Albarn, though I doubt he would even be that bothered where it charted in the album chart.

avatar

⁉️

0

lol i agree that the chart isn’t a sign of quality (i barely listen to it fr) but 1d are much better than queen lmao

RL

Robert Lee

6

Silent Running is such a great song and deserves to get to at least the top 10 !!!!

avatar

Damián

2

Yep, hey dear buddy!!I hope you're doing fine! It's always good to see bands or artists from decades ago still charting and making the scene. Gorillaz never was a favourite of mine but they made a bunch of hits

avatar

Damián

1

Yep I agree with some points on your comment but I don't think its a matter of taste, chart rules and streaming dominance have changed the scenario

avatar

Piran

2

I’ve actually not checked out the album in full yet, but I’m amazed Gorillaz are still hitting the charts after this long. :)

I haven’t been the best at all sadly, but thank you for asking! 😊

avatar

Piran

0

Ah, I miscounted! 😅

Tbh I’m just amazed that Gorillaz are still in the singles chart at all in 2023. :)

avatar

Damián

1

Oops...I hope great times are coming for you mate, love ya!

avatar

Jay

1

yeah I agree. I only ever look at the singles chart when an act I like may have a chance to make top 100 and it's rare. I played in covers bands up until 2017 so I use to have to keep an eye on the singles chart but last 6 years I am so out of touch I dont even know who half the acts are now.

There is still good music out there, it's just finding it online and the album chart still has diversity. I really like Julia Jacklin, Sharon Van Etten and Gorillaz at the moment.

avatar

Jay

1

yeah I agree. It's got a great melody.
I really like This Is Life by James Eastwood, you can hear the Damon Albarn influence a bit in his music.

avatar

Jay

1

are you a musician yourself Piran. I notice your photo says 'Midnights out now on it

Nah, that’s the name of Taylor Swift’s latest album that came out last October. I should probably update it soon! 😂

‘Die For You’ going Top 5 off the Ari remix is fine, but there are much better collabs between them like ‘Love Me Harder’ or ‘Off The Table’ that I wish got there instead.

The new peak for ‘People’ is a massive win though… Top 10 next week? 🤞
