Kylie' s new fabulous single Magic only debuting at 75 and she was at 7 on sales. New music for many artists keep lost at the bottom of the chart while same old songs week after week are still charting into the top 40. Sick of this

I think the charts are broken if a hit from the seventies (Dreams) can re-enter the charts for apparently no reason. Is it because Fleetwood Mac has a compilation in the album charts? That seems silly.
And Mr. Brightside has 245 weeks on the hot 100? The Killers are one of my favourite bands and it's almost insulting to see that chart when they are releasing *awesome* new tunes. It should be My Own Soul's Warning it the top 10, not a song from their first album that refuses to go away.
Personally I think the charts should mostly be about new music. Of course, there are valid reasons for songs to chart again but with all the great music out there being made today it seems such a shame that ancient hits, however good they are, take the place of current music. So many songs out there I can think of that deserve to chart more!

1) āTake You Dancingā just wonāt leave! The more I hear the hook on the radio, the more I get creeped out by it. At least it finally fell!
2) āHead & Heartā is out of the Top 10! Iām happy that this song got six weeks at the top, but it doesnāt deserve to fall this fast. I feel so warm inside every time I hear it!
3) āLighterā completely crashed following being struck by ACR! Iād have loved to see this go all the way, but now I can only hope that it stabilises & gets a decent placing in the yearly chart!
4) As if ACR didnāt p!$$ me off enough already, it also took out both āCardiganā & āExileā almost entirely! Iām so sad that Taylor Swift dropped back a lot this week, but at least āFolkloreā itself is sticking around on the albums chart & both of these hits got widespread critical acclaim.
5) Oh yeah, sadly, āDaisyā is here! Not only does Ashnikko sound incredibly offbeat, but her āsingingā becomes more screeching on the hook. Ultimately, itās just too annoying to revisit & without Radio 1ās overplayment of this, I donāt see how it would've made it here! Iād skip it.
6) Sadly, it looks like āRain On Meā is leaving next week! Oh well, Iām just happy that Lady Gaga is still getting hits over 10 years after her most successful era.
7) 'Hallucinate' is out of the Top 40, meaning Dua Lipa doesn't have any songs in the region now!

1) āTick Tockā didnāt make the Top 10 this week, but itās here because I think itāll enter next week! I really like all three artists here, so this was always bound to work, especially when Iāve been anticipating a Clean Bandit comeback for so long.
2) āWhat You Know Bout Loveā is really starting to become massive everywhere now! I donāt have the same connection to Pop Smokeās music that most other regulars here do, but I have heard the album & I can definitely see why this is the next single.
3) I only know Dutchavelli ironically from āI Dunnoā, but man, he sounds fired up here! The production is menacing enough to give him some real punch, although Iām not sure on the mix at points. Overall though, I think this certainly has potential to become bigger, which I actually wouldnāt mind! ā808ā mightāve been the bigger debut today, but this one is going to stand out for me personally.
4) Iām really not sure how I feel about āFranchiseā right now! On one hand, the beat hits really hard & Travis Scott actually sounds in full control of his own song for the first time since probably āSicko Modeā, but Young Thugās vocals are so grating here & MIAās vocals are pushed so far back. It honestly completely ruins what couldāve been a mostly enjoyable trap hit!
5) āMiss Meā seems to have a more chilled vibe from MoStack & AJ Tracey than I wouldāve expected! I prefer them as MC where theyāre dropping hard-hitting bangers, but this has a somewhat summery vibe to it & at least the two of them have decent chemistry, so yeah, Iāll take it.
6) That new Everton song mightāve been nowhere close to the Top 40 overall, but it was the best-selling song of the week. Being a Liverpool supporter, I think you all know my thoughts on that already! At least weāre above them in the Premier League table now, haha.

1) āMoodā stays at #1 with an even bigger lead than last week! Honestly, I wouldnāt even mind if this gets another month at the top. Itās definitely the catchiest trap song of 2020 so far!
2) āLemonadeās continued ascent on Spotify puts it in the Top 5 overall! I genuinely never expected it to be in this section, but that just reflects how much it grew on me, especially that hook, haha.
3) āMidnight Skyā is back! Itās the most listened to song on the radio right now & Iām so glad that the British public are keeping it this high up too. Those vocals are just incredible!
4) āYou Broke Me Firstā is also finally in the Top 10! I totally agree with the Billie Eilish comparisons, which I mean as a massive compliment. I really hope Tate McRae can get more hits if they sound anything like this!
5) āLasting Loverā might not have gained in streaming, but it does significantly in both sales & airplay! I never wouldāve expected James Arthur to be the right fit for an EDM banger, but his raw vocals really suit Sigalaās bouncy production here.
6) Okay, I was excited to see that āMy Exās Best Friendā was making the chart on Mondayās update, but then I just heard āForget Me Tooā on the chart show & man, Iām so happy that MGK transitioned from rap to punk! This sound definitely suits his more aggressive delivery & Halsey sounds incredible alongside him on the latter; certainly more than Blackbearās verse on the former. Overall though, these two songs have actually convinced me to check out the entirety of his new album, theyāre that impressive!
7) IDLES score a massive #1 debut on the albums chart, outselling the rest of the Top 5 combined! Their numbers were impressive, but I canāt really speak on their music itself, as I havenāt heard enough of their songs to comment there. Why are they in the positive section then? Because a Bristol act have the #1 album of the week! Thatās where Iām currently living, haha.

Taylor's chart performance in the UK seems to be getting worse with each era. Lover still hasn't gone platinum here and Cardigan didn't even stick around for 10 weeks. For comparision Reputation sold the same amount Lover sold in 13 months in 3, and Me! stuck around for 15 weeks despite ACR and the 3 song rule.

She's not having as much longevity with singles unfortunately, but her album is certainly doing fine! All of her albums since 'Red' just got one week at #1, but 'Folklore' got three despite really close competition.
Honestly, I don't think Taylor even cares about chart success anymore, as she's more interested in making the music makes her & her fans happy, which she's definitely done here. Plus, this is a very well acclaimed album & it didn't have any pre-released singles to give this any real hype, so for a surprise release, it's done okay! ;)

And sadly as expected Royal Blood once again lose to streaming and miss out on their first Top 40 hit with the ironically titled TROUBLE COMING. Oh how different it would have been 10 years ago. Quiet frankly them and all Rock and Indie acts should have nothing to do with Radio 1 anymore and their frankly anti Rock/ Indie attitude. All the DJs on there can go and get stuffed with their Rap,Grime and Dance obsessions .

Crowds are overwhelming for me too & with your friends, it's probably just nothing personal!
Remember that everyone in your region is particularly stressed with the lockdown restrictions & as someone who works in education, it can be a real challenge for both the students & the teachers at times. so they probably just take it out on others without really thinking.
