Congratulations to LadBaby, who have won the Official Christmas Number 1 for 2021 with Sausage Rolls For Everyone ft. Ed Sheeran & Elton John, setting a new all-time Official Chart record, the Official Charts Company can confirm.

Their fourth attempt at the Christmas Number 1 proved to be a huge success, earning over 136,000 chart sales, and landing an all-time UK chart record with four consecutive Christmas Number 1s – a feat which has never before been done in 70 years of the Official Christmas Chart.

85% of the total is made up of digital downloads, with proceeds going towards foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.

The social media stars had matched with The Beatles and Spice Girls when they earned three consecutive Christmas Number 1s in 2020, but surpass both groups with their fourth.

Previously LadBaby (aka Mark Hoyle and his wife Roxanne) earned Christmas Number 1 with We Built This City (2018), I Love Sausage Rolls (2019), and Don’t Stop Me Eatin’ (2020). As such, they enjoy a chart claim of four Number 1 singles, with nothing else in their discography!

Sausage Rolls For Everyone also goes down in the history books as the 70th Christmas Number 1 since records began, join the Official Charts in 2022 as we celebrate 70 Years of the Official Singles Chart.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you to the great British public, for every single person in this country that has downloaded and streamed this song over the last week. You’re all absolute legends" Ladbaby tells OfficialCharts.com, "Thank you for helping us raise the profile, raise money and awareness for the Trussell Trust, the food banks in the UK and helping support the 14 million people in this country that are living below the poverty line. We couldn’t have done it without you.

"It means so much to us, and thank you so much for all the support, positivity and love that has been given to us over the last few weeks… Over the last four years!”

Martin Talbot, chief executive of the Official Charts Company commented, “Huge congratulations to Ladbaby, Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John for their achievement this year – not least to Mark and Roxanne of Ladbaby in becoming the first act in history to record four consecutive Official Christmas Number 1s.

To have matched The Beatles and Spice Girls was a fantastic feat last year, but to top them both, while raising money and awareness for foodbank providers The Trussell Trust, is remarkable.”

LadBaby, Ed Sheeran & Elton John’s success reaching Number 1 means that Ed & Elton’s previous collaboration, Merry Christmas, has been toppled from its two-week stay at the summit. This is the third time Ed has replaced himself at Number 1, and second this year following Shivers back in September.

Remarkably, it’s also a third Number 1 single of 2021 for Elton John, bringing his career total to 10 chart toppers, while Ed Sheeran’s fourth Number 1 of the year nudges his career tally up to 13. Ed now matches Madonna and stands in joint fifth place in terms of artists with the most UK Number 1s.

MORE: Every Official Christmas Number 1

Sausage Rolls For Everyone has held off lots of the UK’s favourite festive classics, including Wham!’s Last Christmas (3), and Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You (4).

Another major entry in this week’s chart comes from The K**ts, whose expletive-laden protest track Boris Johnson is STILL A F**king C**t has made it to Number 5 in the Official Christmas Chart – matching their peak in last year’s Christmas Chart with predecessor Boris Johnson Is A F**king C**t – their campaign earned 53,000 chart sales over the last seven days.

17-year-old rising star Gayle has held her own in the Top 10 with breakout single abcdefu (6), while George Ezra’s Amazon Originals cover of Come On Home For Christmas flies five places to Number 10 – the singer’s sixth Top 10 single.

Scott Mills: 'The Christmas chart is a uniquely British phenomenon - it means more than any other'

Chris Rea’s Driving Home For Christmas is up five to Number 12 this week, while Wizzard’s classic I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday returns to the Top 20 after climbing five to Number 17. There are also big climbs for Leona Lewis’ One More Sleep, up seven to Number 21, Slade’s Merry Xmas Everybody, up six to Number 24, John & Yoko’s Happy Xmas (War Is Over) which rises eight to 26.

British singer Olivia Dean vaults 11 places to Number 27 with her Amazon Originals cover of The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole, a brand new peak for the song.

Further down, Dean Martin’s Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! jumps five to Number 36, leading several songs hitting the Top 40 for their first stint of 2021: Camila Cabello’s I’ll Be Home For Christmas (38), Justin Bieber’s Mistletoe (39) and Santa Can’t You Hear Me? by Kelly Clarkson & Ariana Grande (40). In total, there are 29 Christmas songs featured in this week’s Top 40.

Ugh..i was expecting a Xmas miracle, but sadly none! Trashbaby have ruined Xmas charts once in for all and I cant believe thieving ginger pub singer gets another #1 to his tally!! In another 2 years, he is gonna beat Beatles record of 17 for sure. British Public should beware of this!

have you seen their new house? poor saps subscribing to their channel, listening to their 'humour' and watching their 'funny ' antics bought that, good on ya

Pathetic. And to think Elton John and Ed Sheeran are involved with this obvious ploy for attention is also sad. Stooping pretty low.

This is all Ladbaby is: a cynical attempt to get the public to lazily donate their own money to charity, just so long as it's funnelled through Ladbaby's branding, helping them gain more Youtube views and get themselves rich off the UK's poverty crisis. Their records literally wouldn't exist without the charity angle, yet they're claiming chart records for themselves and bragging about them.

Maybe you're right. Personally, I don't blame Ed + Elton agreeing to the stunt. If you listen to the Ladbaby version you can hear that the two have put zero effort into it. It's produced like a radio jingle. Compare how nicely mixed the Sheeran/John original is in comparison to the cheap karaoke of the Ladbaby cover.

I'm no fan of Ed Sheeran's music but he seems like a nice guy and I'm sure they do actually care about the cause; they're not Eric Clapton types. They don't need the publicity, but I'm sure Ladbaby basically forced them into this; they don't want to look like they're big celebrities turning down something that's for charity. OK, perhaps it helps that they're both obsessed with collecting chart records at this point too and that's an extra number one single each for no effort.

I'm with you. I couldn't have said it better. And I think you hit the nail on the head with your last comment...Ed & Elton knew they would easily cruise to number one with this. I have a hard time respecting them if that, is in fact what they were thinking.

LadBaby rocks! Great achievement, great song, I like it better than the original. It's fun, it's quirky, it's christmassy.

I'm OK with being downvoted but I think Ladbaby are worthy of disdain. I genuinely hate them. Sorry. Yes, it's for charity. A good charity, that we should all donate to.
However, even though it's a good cause, I think influencers using a charity to get lots of attention for themselves, advertise their self-centered YouTube channel, and indirectly make lots of money is lame.

The reason why we have lots of foodbanks in this country, and didn't used to until 2010 is because of the terrible choice by the government to implement austerity, which has failed. Ask the Trussell Trust themselves and they'll tell you. Ladbaby has not shown any interest in that at all, in fact they congratulated Boris Johnson and the Conservatives on winning the 2019 election, which makes me think they're morons. No problem with people supporting the Conservatives, but doing it whilst trying to raise money for food banks every year is ridiculous.

If the songs they were pumping out each year were any good, I wouldn't care. But their music is awful. Particularly this year. I wish Wham had got it, because I think George Michael is one of the most understated, fundamentally good and talented people we ever had, and I think Ladbaby is the opposite. In fact, it's really sad that somebody as untalented as Ladbaby can get fame and fortune these days.

The K*nts rightly pointed out the hypocrisy of Ladbaby supporting foodbanks but not speaking out against the very thing causing the need for food banks.
And the fact Ladbaby has taken a punt on The K*nts speaks volume of how opportunistic and a hypocrite he's become.
But hey, It's for charity so I guess we're not allowed to call them out.

Ladbaby is disgusting, they don’t care about hunger or charity, they only use it as an excuse to get some fame. That couple is disgusting 🤮

i wonder who they are really more interested in promoting. their youtube chanel or the poor. plus sausage rolls ain't the only thing a poor unfortunate deserves.

Someone needs to say this: Ladbaby is simply trash, no musical talent, they’re just a couple hungry for notoriety and fame disguised as a charitable act, the people need to stop supporting this, even their numbers are shady. Whoever support them is complicit of a bad act, I hope people open their eyes

avatar

crunch2k

3

To be honest I agree. They use the charity as an excuse to keep doing this so their fans/media will defend them. It’s just boring at this point and does anyone actually watch these throughout the year ? Never heard of them until Christmas

avatar

-2

I don't think LadBaby ever pretended to have music talent, so I don't know what exactly you don't like. People listened to an artist who is very clear about not being a musician. And you're trying to shame them for that.... why? Why is it so important for you to control what other people lsiten to?

J

JK

0

why? Why is it so important for you to control what other people lsiten to?

Hahaha hypocrite and stupid argument, trying to control to not tell you the truth, you are just part of the problem, following like a zombie a couple only interested in promoting their YouTube channel and they found that weak minded people like you is easily manipulated using the charity card when in reality they don’t give a about solving the problem of hungry. So deal with it it

Listen to it? Hardly anybody listens to their songs they just download it thinking that have done their bit for charity and got a download in return which they'll maybe listen to once or twice if they can even be bothered. Could have donated the money direct to charity rather than just 'the proceeds' but it's alright they don't have to work anymore because their YouTube channel is so big it can support them now because people are suckered I to it. Also poor effort on Ed Sheerans part, why didn't he just do the track with lad baby in the beginning and make it for charity? It's not like he needs the money. There has been nobody since Bob Geldof and Modge Ure who have written a track purely for charity and invited other people to join, pretty sure if Ed Sheeran did the same.loads of artists would come and lend vocals and instruments etc but no can't do that for charity, it's such a shame it's this way. Feel for you all, those who get suckered into buying it and the rest of us who have to put up with seeing it in the charts and seeing how many people got suckered into buying it

avatar

Zimowski

I'm not even from UK and can't affect your charts. It's my third most listened song this month, and judging by their streaming numbers, there are quite a few people who listen to this song.
You have songs from Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Taylor swift, Drake, Tones and I in charts the whole year, you had Bart Simpson at number one, but you are only having problem with someone who doesn't even pretend to be a singer....

avatar

Zimowski

-1

Hungry? I don't care about hungry and british people. I just listen to the fun song.

avatar

Rob Parkinson

3

The streaming numbers alone wouldn't even let the track chart in the top 100. Yeah all those artists you mentioned had original songs not a poor cover version to gain some fame and the controversy which they need to keep in the limelight to boost their YouTube viewings and not have to work ever again

avatar

Zimowski

1

I meant that I can't call music any of those artists high-quality. So, for me there's really no difference in terms of audio. In terms of image I prefer British bloggers who seem fun and positive and not some over-produced talentless people who pretend to be artists just to discuss their private life on interviews

J

JK

Ladbaby are just a couple of hypocrites looking to make more money, that’s how they pay their mansions making the dumb people believe that they’re interested in charity but they only want more views to their channel

I have to ask, what’s been everyone’s favourite Christmas Number 1 over the years? :)

My personal choices for this would have to be:

1966: Tom Jones – Green Green Grass Of Home
1975: Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody
1984: Band Aid – Do They Know It’s Christmas?
1985: Shakin’ Stevens – Merry Christmas Everyone
1992: Whitney Houston – I Will Always Love You
1994: East 17 – Stay Another Day
2002: Girls Aloud – Sound Of The Underground
2006: Leona Lewis – A Moment Like This
2008: Alexandra Burke – Hallelujah
2013: Sam Bailey – Skyscraper

That would probably be my Top 10, but there have been so many from the past seven decades that this wasn’t an easy list to put together at all! 😂

I would'nt really go by data for list of #1's or during media branded Christmas Charts,as the charts have been Cut off and total data before Christmas dates not during, and it what people are buying, and streaming over the week from Christmas that count so the weekly after Boxing Day, is the True Charts that really Matter.

avatar

crunch2k

4

That’s not true. The true Christmas charts is the one branded by the official charts. I don’t know why you still waste your time going on about this

avatar

BleeUK

-3

its defo not the one that been branded on Media, it 31st December 2021 This Year the Christmas Charts as the weekly, based on 24th to 30th December True Data- Christmas Week and 25th December included, Radio 1 and Top Of The Pops is the same charts and way out and before Christmas.

5

You are like a broken record 😂 you are the only person who cares about this. Do yourself a favour and stop

-3

I'm not the only person who care about this, i know people i have told and there agree, a few said i am clever, my family agreed, and say you have to include Christmas Day Data, and you cant have a christmas Charts if you haven't added thestart, the week and big Day 25th #1, as media only does data before, but some did'nt realise there a charts until mid January, and thought charts was switched off for about 5 weeks.

avatar

BleeUK

-2

Also if it was a special Charts why isnt Radio 2 the most listen to radio station in UK broadcasting this? or having charts on prime time radio and tv slots, maybe there dont agree.

You are the only person who cares. Your family just agree with you be nice and judging from the way you comment you probably just push this stupid agenda all time so they just agree to be nice

there totally agree with me not just because to be nice, my family and friends hardly listen to the music radio chart, but there know i listen each week to the official charts on radio 1 but there think it strange why is the data before christmas day, and it should be on after boxing day.

avatar

BleeUK

-1

there not sad for me there think i'm very clever, and agree with me 100%, how can you have a christmas charts before Christmas day, when you havent even started christmas, its 100% a run up to christmas than christmas sales and data.

no they dont laugh at me they love me and get me, that not nice, im a very cleaver man, i will drop this christmas charts dates chats now from this point/post, it not like a been defeated, i dont think a lot of people get the whole idea, what i am talking about, its not a lie, its a true about the dates i'm trying to explain, but all i say is i think a lot of people will be shocked in the end, it may take years for the truth to come out, of how the UK Charts run and the weekly will shock the nation, there Rules, with ACR for singles and its a playlist streaming control to charts than just from your searches and playing your music, anywhere thats it, Happy New Year.

LadBaby continuously raising money for food banks up & down the country is an incredible act of kindness, but that’s literally the only good thing I can say about his new song!

Thankfully, both today (Christmas Eve) & tomorrow (Christmas Day) will be counted towards the new tracking week, so hopefully we can still get a festive classic at #1 next week to round out the year, e.g. Mariah, Wham!, The Pogues, etc. :)

(Christmas Eve) & tomorrow (Christmas Day) & Christmas Week, will be counted towards 30th December to The Christmas Charts Weekly From 31st December, As Data Of So Called Christmas Media Branded Charts is not really Christmas, as It only Up to 23rd December Data only and not Christmas Charts on media is not really True at all.

100% next week is the Christmas Charts (31st December) Radio 1 and Top Of The Pops Branded needs a revamp to real data, after boxing Day how can we have a Christmas Charts on 24th December as the sales and streams is only reached from 17th to 23rd December.

Firstly of all, There do amazing Job Official Charts Company, but it just Christmas time is misleading for media,by the end of the day If you dont even have the 25th/26th #1 Unit or sales Data than it not a Christmas Charts, So the Branded Broadcast needs to be After Boxing Day, Radio 1 or Official Charts branded Data Units total always is deadline before Christmas Day, think we have to agree we disagee, but If the charts was special why hasn't Radio 2 the most listen to Radio station in UK cover it, and why is it not on Prime Time Slots or repeated for viewers, there is a lot of lost viewers nowdays and not many people sadly care about the charts anymore, only Around 1.3 Million tune in to UK Official Top 40 on Radio 1.
