Slipknot are an American heavy metal band from Des Moines, Iowa, who specialise in wearing character-based frightmasks and being known by numbers, and who were founded in 1995 by percussionist #6, and last remaining original member Shawn Crahan (born September 24, 1969), drummer #1 Joey Jordison (born April 26, 1975) and bassist #2 Paul Gray (April 8, 1972 – May 24, 2010) Slipknot’s classic line-up consisted of them alongside keyboardist #5 Craig Jones (born February 11, 1972), guitarist #7 Mick Thomson (November 3rd 1973), singer #8 Corey Taylor (born December 8, 1973), DJ #0 Sid Wilson (born January 20, 1977), percussionist #3 Chris Fehn (born February 24, 1973), and guitarist #4 Jim Root (born October 2, 1971). Slipknot rose to fame and notoriety from 1999 onwards, with a breakthrough upon the release of their second album, 2001’s Iowa which scored them their first UK Official Album Chart Number 1. Slipknot’s 2019 album We Are Not Your Kind was their second UK Number 1, but only just, with a mere 12 copies between them and Ed Sheeran’s No.6 Collaborations Project on its opening week.
