POMPEII
by BASTILLE

Pompeii, written by front man Dan Smith, was the fourth single from Bastille's debut album Bad Blood and served as the band's breakthrough hit. Released on 11 January 2013, Pompeii peaked at Number 2 on the UK Official Singles Chart.

In June 2014 as streaming data was introduced into the Official Singles Chart for the first time, Pompeii was announced by the Official Charts Company as the most-streamed song of all time in the UK at that point, and still maintains a place in the most-streamed songs of all time.

During the album's tenth anniversary celebrations, in November 2023 Official Charts confirmed that Pompeii had joined the elite UK million sellers club. A rare feat in the streaming era, Pompeii is only the 180th song in history to reach the million-seller milestone, and with streaming now the dominant method of music consumption, it’s unlikely that number will rise much further.
