James Arthur has signed a new record deal and will release his new album in 2021.

Previously signed in the UK to Syco Music which is no longer in operation, James has penned a new joint contract with Columbia Records UK and Columbia Records Germany. His first album as part of Columbia UK will be released later this year, with the lead single coming in March.

"I consider it an honour to be signing to a label with such prestige," explained the 2012 X Factor winner. "Columbia have historically signed iconic artists and musicians, many of which have inspired me along the way, so to be adding my name to a roster that boasts so many legends is a sign of how far I’ve come and is a huge compliment.

"I’m very grateful to Columbia for wanting to work with me and am extremely excited to write this next chapter of my career with them. I have a feeling it’s going to be some journey!"

The news comes after James confirmed to Metro that he had wrote 60 songs in lockdown: "This album has a real sound. Sonically, you can tell it’s from the same batch of writing. It’s all written in my house, by me. It feels quite reflective, like someone doing a bit of soul searching."

James Arthur has scored huge success on the Official Charts. His debut single Impossible is the most successful X Factor winner's song with sales and streams combined, plus he has scored two UK Number 1 singles and three Top 3 albums including 2016 chart-topper Back From The Edge.
