Ariana Grande makes start to de-throne Noah Kahan with yes, and?

Ariana Grande is back!

Return of the Queen! Ariana Grande’s comeback single yes, and? has made a strong start in its bid to de-throne reigning champion Noah Kahan (1). It would become Ari’s eighth UK Number 1 single – and first in nearly 4 years.

The handbag house track - which sees Ariana reunite with long-time collaborators Max Martin and ILYA after a five year break - starts and ends the media conversation around Ari's personal life, and is something of a surprise release from the superstar, given that her next album was initially put on hold until after the release of the two-part Wicked adaption, which she'll be starring in as the Good Witch, Glinda.

yes, and? counts as Ariana's biggest release since 2020, where she unleashed her sixth album, Positions, the title track of which became her 7th UK Number 1 single. That year, she also scored another Number 1 with Lady Gaga collaboration Rain On Me.

But it’s way too early to discount Noah Kahan, who is less than 2,000 chart units behind with Stick Season (2). In the battle between a pop queen and a breakthrough folk artist, who will win? That’s up to you!

Sophie Ellis-Bextor still has time to catch up on the competition, too, as Murder on the Dancefloor's viral success roars on thanks to the continued success of Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn (3).

Teddy Swims looks to claim a new peak on Lose Control (5), eyeing-up his first-ever UK Top 5 hit.

D-Block Europe’s latest release Eagle could see a Top 20 debut (18).

21 Savage’s brand-new album American Dream aims to place three tracks in the chart this week; Nee-Nah with Travis Scott and Metro Boomin (19), N.H.I.E with Doja Cat (21) and Redrum (23).

Surprised to see 'yes, and?' leading the chart battle, but very happy about it. Hope it can stay at #1 until Friday! 😊
