Baby Shark slipped 35 (!) places in 1 week. A little surprising to see that it's no longer in the top 40.

Shotgun by George Ezra is still in the top 40? When is that song ever going to drop out the top 40 as it is getting old!

My thoughts & observations on the UK charts as always…

- ‘Someone You Loved’ by Lewis Capaldi is #1 on the singles chart for a fourth consecutive week. It accumulated 7.32 million streams across the country in the past seven days!

- ‘Walk Me Home’ by P!NK becomes the new #1 on the national airplay chart.

- I’m not entirely sure why, but ‘Sweet But Psycho’ by Ava Max returns to #1 on Britain’s YouTube chart. It increases 1% in views to 3.01 million, giving it an extremely narrow lead over ‘Someone You Loved’ there!

- MARSHMELLO & CHVRCHES – HERE WITH ME (#23)
It’s cool to see CHVRCHES get their highest chart song to date, although I agree with many fans of the groups in saying that this is far from their best! Lauren’s immediately recognisable vocals still sound out in this song & I think adding in the chugging guitars behind that makes a fine enough pairing, although this might be one of my least favourite drops from Marshmello yet. The combination of trap there along with CHVRCHES’ signature synth-pop approach just seems a bit messy to me. The content is mostly uninteresting too & I really wish this was a lot better, because it really could’ve been. The build-up & hook is enough to just about save this for me, so for that reason I’m giving this a light 6/10.

- AVA MAX – SO AM I (#30)
So as many of you know, I absolutely love ‘Sweet But Psycho’ & not only that, but I correctly predicted that it would take over the charts in the UK & in other countries! So, do I feel the same about this? Hmm… maybe not as much as I did last time, but it still shows potential for sure! The rhythm & even the melody to an extent don’t differ much from the song’s predecessor, but what is a notable change are the lyrics, which are about Ava telling us not to worry about being not fitting into a group & not letting your imperfections get you down, because she’s experienced that herself. Now, while she’s still a good singer, this doesn’t go anywhere near the range that ‘Sweet But Psycho’ did. I feel like while many people have compared Ava Max to Lady Gaga, ‘Sweet But Psycho’ was to ‘Bad Romance’ as this new song is to, say, ‘Born This Way’. So yeah, even though this might’ve been predictable to many, I still really like this overall! For me, solid 8/10.

- LIZZO – JUICE (#38)
Oh… I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks now! When I first heard this song, it sounded like a pop radio hit that crossed over from America (surprised it hasn’t charted there at all yet!), but you know what, I’m so glad it at least made an impact in Britain! A lot of this is to do with Lizzo herself, who not only has a soulful & fun voice, but she carries a ton of charisma & swagger here too, even if I think a flow is a bit too choppy at places. The production courtesy of Ricky Reed is interesting too, complete with vibrant guitar chords & even a three-piece horn section! I also like the lyrics about being proud of the way you look & dismissing the people who say otherwise by mocking them without throwing any insults back at them (it actually shows a lot of maturity). The whole song is mostly an 80s retro-funk throwback & sadly I don’t expect it to last for that reason, but in an ideal world, this would be a huge hit. Strong 8/10 for this!

- On the albums chart, ‘Singing To Strangers’ by Jack Savoretti debuts at #1 with 32,000 combined sales. It’s his first #1 on the chart!

- The rest of the Top 5 is: ‘Psychodrama’ by Dave (1-2), ‘What A Time To Be Alive’ (5-3), ‘The Greatest Showman [Soundtrack]’ (6-4) & ‘Bohemian Rhapsody [Soundtrack]’ (7-5).

- Looking ahead to next week, these songs could enter the Top 40 for the first time: ‘Baby’ by Giggs, ‘Naïve’ by The Kooks, ‘My Bad’ by Khalid, ‘Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind’ by Logic, ‘Fashion Week’ by Steel Banglez ft AJ Tracey & MoStack, ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ by Meduza ft Goodboys, 'Pretty Shining People' by George Ezra, 'I Can't Get Enough' by Benny Blanco ft Selena Gomez, Tainy & J Balvin, 'Bet' by Octavian ft Michael Phantom, 'Let Me Down Slowly' by Alec Benjamin & maybe even more.

- Thanks for reading everyone! I hope you all have a good weekend. :)

Hey Piran! I love seeing that 'Someone You Loved' gets a full month at #1, at it seems to have fully escaped from the threat of being overtaken by 'Giant' now, 12,378 combined sales ahead this week, almost double the previous highest gap between the 2.
In response to your questions in your other reply to me, 'Someone You Loved' won't be going on ACR any time soon, given that it increased in both combined sales and streams this week. 'Giant' and 'Don't Call Me Up' are not as safe, though. The latter will probably be on ACR next week, as it's decreased in combined sales for 3 consecutive weeks now, though I don't know the streaming figures so it may have had a small increase in streams which could save it. 'Giant' is a very similar story, now declining in combined sales for 2 consecutive weeks. If it declined in streams for both of those, and if it declines again next week, it'll be on ACR the week after.
I love seeing the big climb for 'Just You and I' in the Top 10, and the climbs into the Top 10 for 'Location' and 'i'm so tired...'. I also really like how well all the Dave singles have held up, and I find it really interesting how they've arranged themselves. The current single and only one with an official video, 'Streatham', is the lowest of the bunch at #13, while last week's lowest, 'Location', climbs to become this week's highest at #8. I looks like 'Location' will have the best longevity of the bunch, still #1 on Apple Music and #9 on Spotify, while the other 2 will probably fall somewhat quickly from this point.
I enjoyed all 3 of the new entries this week. 'Here With Me' would probably get a solid 6/10 from me - I'd never heard of CHVRCHS before, but this is one of Marshmello's weaker songs for me. 'So Am I' is definitely my favourite of the week, as I'd give it a solid 8/10 as well, while 'Juice' would be a solid 6/10. I'm surprised that it took so long to chart, given how much airplay it's been getting - it's the 14th most played song of the year so far!
Looking ahead to next week, 'Fashion Week' seems like it'll be the highest debut, #15 on Spotify and #21 on Apple Music, while 'Keisha & Becky' will probably be the 2nd highest, #26 on Spotify and #31 on Apple Music. Nothing else really looks that likely to chart at the moment, though I'm sure at least something else will.

Hey Gameskiller! :)
That's interesting, it appears that 'Someone You Loved' will remain at #1 for the time being. The only two songs on the chart now that have any real chance at challenging it in the coming weeks are 'Just You & I' or 'Sucker'. My gut instinct is telling me that a big artist will come at debut at #1 before too long, like: JB, Taylor or maybe even Rihanna at this point.
It does seem like 'Location' will end sticking around, probably because it remained at #1 on Apple Music for a second week, while all of Dave's other tracks took losses both there & on Spotify.
I'm pleased that we agree on most of the debuts, although I definitely liked 'Juice' more than you did. I knew it had a lot of airplay, particularly from Capital, but I wasn't aware it had that much! I did notice it was lingering just below the Top 10 on downloads for a few weeks, but I think it was her performance on Jonathon Ross that gave it the boost it needed to make the Top 40 overall.
Unsurprisingly, it looks like 'Someone You Loved' is set to take 'Sweet But Psycho' off the #1 spot on YouTube in the next chart.

Yeah, outside of a big new debut I can't really see anything overtaking 'Someone You Loved' in the next few weeks. It'll most likely end up as #2 in the chart for Q1 2019, and could end up with a shot for #2 or #1 for the year-end chart. '7 rings' will probably be #1 on the Q1 chart, though, and could also potentially be #1 on the year-end chart.
I didn't know that 'Juice' had quite that much airplay either, until I looked it up. I'd heard it a lot on Capital, so I was still surprised that it took until now to chart, but after I saw it was #14 for the year-to-date I was even more surprised. It does definitely look like the Jonathon Ross performance is what pushed it into the Top 40, though.
On the most recent YouTube chart 'Someone You Loved' has 2.3m views, while 'Sweet but Psycho' has 1.97m, so that's just another area helping 'Someone You Loved' to stay at #1 for so long.
