Whigfield is an Italian dance project fronted by Sannie Charlotte Carlson (born April 11, 1970 in Skælskør, Denmark), who is a Danish singer, songwriter and record producer. Whigfield first came to prominence when her debut song Saturday Night became a UK Official Singles Chart Number 1 in 1994, deposing Wet Wet Wet’s Love Is All Around from the position, for a relieved nation and became a 1.5 million-selling smash, as well as becoming the first female to enter the UK Official Singles Chart at Number 1. Whigfield confessed to Official Charts in 2019 that she’d never attempted the dance that accompanied the song.
