
Bloc Party are an English rock band, composed of vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Kele Okereke (born Rowland Kelechukwu Okereke on October 13, 1981 in Liverpool) and guitarist Russell Lissack (born March 11, 1981 in Chingford, Essex) who both formed the band at 1999’s Reading Festival, and the line-up is currently made up of bassist Justin Harris and drummer Louise Bartle. Bloc Party have had a string of hit songs, such as Banquet, So Here We Are, Helicopter and Flux, as well as their debut album Silent Alarm, which was nominated for the 2005 Mercury Music Prize and won named the NME award for Best Album that year.
