Self-assured and cool, Dua's post-disco kiss-off to a lover she would rather leave behind, Don't Start Now was a bold flag in the ground to start the Future Nostalgia era, and one of the most influential singles released in the last five years. Thanks to its impact (and a handful of other disco-influenced songs such as The Weeknd's Blinding Lights and Doja Cat's Say So), Don't Start Now helped to usher in a new decade, one where the sights and sounds of disco would reach a peak we haven't seen since Studio 54 closed its doors for good.
