ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL (PART 2)
by PINK FLOYD
Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London in 1965 by Syd Barrett (guitar, lead vocals), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass guitar, vocals) Richard Wright (keyboards, vocals) and were joined by David Gilmour (guitar, vocals) in January 1968. After Barrett’s departure in April 1968 due to ill health, they settled into the quartet that would become predominantly an albums act. Indeed, Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2) was only the band’s third Top 40 entry and first since 1967.
Released November 23, 1979, the (Part 2) was the second of three elements that featured on their album The Wall, and entered the UK Official Singles Chart at Number 26, and soared to Number 1 a fortnight later, staying there for five weeks to become 1979’s UK Official Singles Chart Christmas Number 1. The song featured vocals by a choir of kids from Islington Green School, who allotted 40 minutes from their school day to record the vocals.
