Merry Christmas was the third consecutive Official UK Singles Chart Number 1 of 2021 for Ed Sheeran, following Shiver, and Elton John’s second of 2021 as the follow-up to Cold Heart, his duet with Dua Lipa. It also gave the pair their 12th (Ed) and ninth (Elton) UK Number 1s. In a rare Official Chart feat, a remix of Merry Christmas, Sausage Rolls for Everyone, featuring internet duo LadBaby was released just weeks later, becoming the Official Christmas Number 1 of 2021.
