Ed Sheeran and Elton John joined forces for the first time in 2021 for the festive single Merry Christmas. Born out of the duo's friendship (and a phone call Ed received from Elton on Christmas Day 2020), Merry Christmas debuted at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, giving Ed his 12th UK Number 1 and Elton his ninth.
