cassö, RAYE and D-Block Europe looking to usurp Kenya Grace from Number 1

Meanwhile, boygenius and Mitski could be leading an indie-rock revival on the Official Chart.

cassö, RAYE and D-Block Europe’s Prada has usurped Kenya Grace’s Strangers at Number 1, but with less than 400 chart units between the two songs, they’re set for a photo finish end to this chart race on Friday.

But it would also be foolish to discount ascendant Canadian pop upstart Tate McRae, whose viral smash greedy (3) is also less than 1,300 chart units behind, and who could blow the whole race wide open as the week continues.

Tyla’s Water is on track to surge to its highest position yet (4), as could Chase & Status, Bou, Flowdan, IRAH, Trigga & Takura on Baddadan (5) and Sonny Fodera, MK and Clementine Douglas on Asking (6).

Indie-rock could be well on its way to a chart resurgence! This week’s highest new entry is looking to go to indie-pop trio boygenius (aka Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus), who are well on the way to secure their first-ever Top 10 on Black Hole (8), while Mitski’s My Love Mine All Mine is predicted to enter the Top 10 for the first time (10).

Billy Gillies & Hannah Boleyn’s breakthrough chart entry DNA (Loving You) is also on the up (12), while Fred again..’s latest team-up with jozzy could net a Top 20 debut (15).

Bring Me The Horizon’s Darkside is also on track to debut inside the Top 20, at Number 17. It would be the second overall Top 20 single for the band.

Felt bored, decided to make a Sunday recap for once.

(NOTE: WHEN DOING THE FIRST FEW SONGS, I ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED A LINK, AND NOW THEY'RE LOST TO TIME FOREVER. WHAT I MEANT TO SAY WAS THAT ISSEY CROSS IS UNIMAGINATIVE, BURNA BOY NEEDS TO WORK HARDER, O-ROD WON'T LEAVE, AND BRING ME THE HORIZON ARE QUITE GOOD. BUT YOU KNEW THAT ALREADY.)

16. Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer (up 4) Is this the point where I start to get sick of this song diluting the Top 20? Discuss.

15. Fred Again../Jozzy - ten (NEW) This was the link I clicked on. In other news, the minute Fred's previous song gets axed by ACR, in comes his new one to soundtrack lo-fi TikToks for months. Good luck, Fred. And Jozzy, who isn't Jazzy, but don't let that confuse you.

14. Olivia Rodrigo - get him back! (non-mover) Well now that bad idea right? has also been hit with a chart-inforced sledgehammer, I guess this one is the O-Rod song to pay attention to.

13. Drake ft. J. Cole - First Person Shooter (down 9) DON'T CARE.

12. Billy Gillies ft. Hannah Boleyn - DNA (Loving You) (up 5) So where does Billy Gillies come from anyway? And who calls their kid Billy Gillies!?

11. Drake ft. Yeat - IDGAF (down 6) You know if he covered the Dua Lipa song instead he'd do so much better, right?

10. Mitski - My Love Mine All Mine (up 3) Yeah alright.

9. Doja Cat - Paint The Town Red (up 3) That ACR is really forcing Doja down the chart, ain't it. (make your own sarcasm joke to replace this one)

8. boygenius - Black Hole (NEW) Hey woah woah woah. What year is this!? 2007? How can a bunch of people that critics fall head over heels for and can make glorious sounds with their guitars gatecrash the upper end like this? Probably a physical release. But anyways, this song would've ended up on The Record, but it hasn't, and now here it is. Read it and weep.

7. Becky Hill/Chase & Status - Disconnect (up 2) And now, back to the regulars. How long has Becky Hill been here for again?

6. Sonny Fodera/MK - Asking (up 4) FINALLY. A dance track that doesn't . Even though Becky Hill would also fit into that category. And Peggy Gou. And Calvin Harris. And Fred Again..

5. Chase & Status ft. More People The More I Mention It - Baddadan (up 6) Add Chase & Status to that category while you're at it.

4. Tyla - Water (up 3) Afrobeats will be the death of us.

3. Tate McRae - greedy (non-mover) Well that's her hopes gone. For now.

2. Kenya Grace - Strangers (down 1) Ah. Now that one wasn't as expected. I don't care if you're streaming champion, you better do better than that.

1. cassö/RAYE/D-Block Europe - Prada (up 1) Remember when this song didn't ? Now I can't escape it. I doubt anybody knows who cassö actually is. Nevermind that, how will the world cope with D-Block Europe topping the chart!?

Anyways, that's that for now. I'm off to prepare for my script for Friday, which may ör may not have a lot of diärësïs in ït. Seë yöu latër.

(P.S. That review may be insufferable, now that I'm thinking about it.)

Pleasantly surprised to see ‘Ten’ in the Top 15!

Not as good as ‘Adore U’ by any means, but glad Fred Again.. is getting another hit. :)

To be fair, Fred Again.. would have to channel his inner System of a Down in order to improve on his previous hit, so a song like ten is perfectly normal.

Between Boygenius and Mitski, it’s really good to see an indie-rock resurgence in the charts.

Especially pleased to see the latter set for a first Top 10 hit! 😊

Hey, I love $20 as much as the next indie kid, but no iteration of my conscious can believe how well their new one is somehow doing.

I know it's physically related, so it will probably pull an Aphex Twin and nosedive down the rankings, but still. HOW. ._.

Yeah, it has to be physical sales. No sign of it on the Spotify, Apple Music nor iTunes charts.
