Congratulations to Katy B whose new album Little Red has gone straight in at the top of the Official Albums Chart, giving Katy her first UK Number 1.

Recently described by The Guardian as an artist who “comes from somewhere and something”, a singer “steeped in niche genres” and who “knows what works under strobes”, 24-year-old Katy from Peckham, South East London has made it all the way to Number 1 three years after her chart debut, and without compromise to her distinctive sound.

BRIT School graduate Katy’s first album Katy B On A Mission peaked at Number 2 back in 2011, and today, follow-up studio album Little Red, which drafts in the likes of hit song-writing talent Guy Chambers and Fraser T Smith, has delivered her a personal best. Taking its place on this week’s albums throne, Little Red features Top 20 single 5AM, and Top 5 hit Crying For No Reason.

Meanwhile, Ellie Goulding’s Halcyon is at Number 2, and London Grammar climb one place to Number 3 with If You Wait. Beyonce (4) and Avicii’s True (5) complete this week’s Official Albums Chart Top 5.

New Entries

Psychedelic rockers Temples are the week’s second highest new entry with their debut album, Sun Structures (7). Plus, 25 years after topping the charts globally with single All Around The World, and 10 years after the release of her last album, Rochdale lass Lisa Stansfield makes a welcome return to the chart this weekend with her seventh studio album, Seven (13).

And finally, Crowded House frontman Neil Finn is new in at Number 22 with Dizzy Heights, while Rosanne Cash, the eldest daughter of late country music legend Johnny Cash enters at Number 25 with The River & The Thread.
