Get to know Disciples, the collaborators on Calvin Harris' new single How Deep Is Your Love

Last week, Calvin Harris released his new single How Deep Is Your Love - his first brand new track since putting out his fourth album Motion last year.

But rather than teaming up with another big-name, internationally-known act such as Rihanna or Ellie Goulding for the release, Calvin opted for the lesser-known Disciples; a underground producer/musician/singer collective fast on the rise.

With the track bound for the upper echelons of this week's Official Singles Chart, we sought to find out more about the mysterious trio.

Hello Disciples! We’re very much enjoying your new single How Deep Is Your Love. Calvin Harris doesn’t normally collaborate with other producer/DJ types, so how did this all come about?

Two of us are published by fly-eye (Calvin's publishing company). We were working on How Deep Is Your Love and we sent it to him to hear his thoughts. He loved the track and he proposed working on it and collaborating on it together. We're honoured he would want to put a record out with us. It's always great when two worlds collaborate. 

Describe How Deep Is Your Love to us in no more than five words.

Hypnotic, sensual, summer, vibey, house.

Can you tell us a bit about who Disciples are and how did you as a trio come to be? 

We are three musicians from South London and Surrey. Between us we produce, DJ and write music that makes us happy, whether that be underground or commercial. We just love music that touches us.

Aside from How Deep Is Your Love, what other track of yours would you recommend for a new fan?

We loved the reaction to They Don't Know when it came out earlier this year.  It feels good when people catch the same vibe you did when you made it in the studio. But there's some new stuff coming out from us we're excited to share and of course we’re very proud of our record with Calvin. 

You're supporting Calvin at two of his UK shows in August alongside Ellie Goulding and John Newman, which must be a very different crowd to who you would usually perform to...

We’re excited but more curious. We haven't yet played to the type of crowd these artist bring in, so it will be interesting to see how they feel about us. 

Now How Deep Is Your Love is out, what’s next for Disciples? 

Our own single drops in the last quarter of this year, and we're gearing up to tour both in Europe and the US. And we may have a few more surprise collaborations in the pipeline...
