10 years of Calvin Harris – his chart story so far

It's a decade since Calvin Harris scored his first ever hit.

Hard to believe, but Calvin Harris has been a part of our pop lives for a whole decade. It's 10 years since the Scottish DJ and producer's debut single Acceptable In The '80s first charted. To mark the occasion, we look back at Calvin's chart facts and feats.

He's had 22 Top 10s

Only six of Calvin's 28 Top 40 hits have missed the Top 10 – that's a pretty good hit rate. His first top 10 was that debut single, Acceptable In The 80s, which scraped in at 10. Still a top 10, though.

He's had seven Number 1 singles

Wassup darlin'? Calvin's first chart-topper was his scene-stealing feature on Dizzee Rascal's Dance Wiv Me, which spent a month at Number 1 in 2008. His first solo chart-topper was, ironically, I'm Not Alone (because he very much was) in 2009. And the next five? We Found Love (2011, with Rihanna); Sweet Nothing, with Florence Welch (2012); Under Control, with Alesso and Hurts (2013); Summer (2014); Blame, with John Newman (2014).

He's spent 16 weeks at Number 1

Not all at once, obviously. We'll leave that to Bryan Adams. Calvin's longest stint at the summit was with Rihanna, on We Found Love, which spent six (non-consecutive) weeks at the top in 2011. It's also a million-seller – his first and only so far.

He's sold a lot of albums

Calvin has said that he can't be bothered making albums anymore, which is a shame, as he sells quite a lot of them, and they all went Top 10. I Created Disco, (2007) peaked at 8, while Ready For The Weekend (2009) and 18 Months, his top seller, (2012) both hit Number 1. His most recent album Motion (2014) hit Number 2. Altogether he's sold 1.76 million albums. He has committed to releasing 10 songs in 2017, however, which is kind of like an album if you think about it.

His biggest selling track is…

It was only ever going to be We Found Love, wasn't it? His monster hit with RiRi has sold 1.4 million copies.

His most streamed song is…

He's got Rihanna to thank again for this one – their 2016 collaboration This Is What You Came For has racked up 90.32 million plays since its release that May.

He held the record for most Top 10s off one album

Up until very recently (last week), Calvin held the record for the most Top 10 singles to be taken from the same album – with a grand total of nine hits from 18 Months making the grade. Sadly, for Calvin anyway, this record was trounced by Ed Sheeran, whose ÷ managed 10 – nine of them in the very same week. Wow. Your move, Calvin.

I'm not surprised that he quat (?) making albums, he's becoming a generic house artist and they NEVER release albums.
