
Marshmello was born as the more conventional Christopher Comstock on May 19, 1992 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is an American electronic music producer and DJ. Marshmello began his music career when he posted his first song Wavez on Soundcloud in 2015, immediately gaining support from the likes of Skrillex. Marshmello took to wearing a custom-built helmet to hide his identity, in part inspired by other mask-wearing troubadours such as Deadmau5. Marshmello built up a string of hit songs with featured vocals from the likes of Bastille, Khalid, Chvrches and most notably Selena Gomez on the megahit Wolves. Marshmello was also named one of the most influential people under the age of 30 by Forbes magazine in 2018.
