Ben Haenow was the winner of The X Factor 2014 television series and went on to top the Official Singles Chart with his winner's single Something I Need.
The 29-year-old van driver hailing from Croydon fought off competition from Fleur East in the live televised final in front of an audience of thousands at London’s SSE Arena in Wembley on December 14th, with millions more watching on ITV1.
In winning the TV talent contest, Ben's winner's single Something I Need, originally recorded by OneRepublic, was released digitally the same evening and propelled head-first into the biggest chart race of the year. With a combined chart sales figure of over 214,000, Something I Need – whose proceeds go to charity Together for Short Lives - became the second fastest-selling single of the year and landed the coveted Christmas Number 1 2014.
Following an era of X Factor domination, Ben Haenow would be the last X Factor winner ever to score the coveted Christmas Number 1, festive chart victory the following year was secured by the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir and their song A Bridge Over You.

It's a bit like the x factor 2009 when Olly Murrs came 2nd but he became more famous than the guy who won, these days flear East is way more popular than Ben Haenow.

That is true. It's a sad fact Fleur East ended up exceeding Haenow but I'm glad Olly Murs did better than whoever beat him (I forgot)
