This summer, your head would've had to be pretty deep in your suncream not to have heard the tropical house banger Sorry. The old-school style track, from DJ and producer Joel Corry with pristine vocals from Hayley May, has been rocketing up the Official Singles Chart, thanks to its appearance in that other summer sensation, Love Island.
While the wider world may be new to Joel Corry – though we have a feeling that will be changing very soon – Sorry is already breaking records, smashing the title of most Shazamed track in one day, receiving 41,000 Shazams on July 24.
"It feels amazing to break the UK record for the most Shazamed song ever in one day,” said Joel. "My phone went into meltdown when it happened! It’s got everyone talking, and helped launch the single up the Official Charts. I’m just buzzing everyone is loving Sorry."
Sorry's Love Island success isn't Joel's first flirtation with reality TV either – Joel featured on MTV's notorious Geordie Shore, alongside then-girlfriend Sophie Kasaei until 2013.
But that's not all! Joel is a true 360° artist and an entrepreneur – we're not sure if there's anything he doesn't do. Along with producing dance tunes, Joel has a personal training business – he even has his own app called Joel Corry PT – a gym and leisurewear company Most Rated, which is also the name of his very own record label, plus he has his own show on KISS on Thursdays. Oh, and let's not forget the DJing – he's currently on a summer tour of holiday hotspots like Malia and Zante.
In the latest Official Chart Update, Sorry zoomed 22 slots to Number 16, making it pretty certain of a new chart peak this week. You can hear its final chart position on Friday on the Official Chart on Radio 1, from 4pm.
