It took some time, but Sia has finally landed her first Number 1 single in America.

Cheap Thrills climbs from 3 to 1 on this week's Billboard Hot 100, dethroning Drake's One Dance (2) after a 10-week stint at the top. The song's journey to the top started some 23 weeks ago - the longest climb to Number 1 since John Legend's All Of Me took 30 weeks to reach the summit in 2014.

Cheap Thrills is Sia's first Number 1 single in the States, though she has had a taste of chart-topping glory before as a writer on Rihanna's Diamonds, which logged three weeks at the top in 2012. Interestingly, Cheap Thrills was in fact put forward for Rihanna's latest album Anti, but ended up being recorded by Sia herself.

What's more, Sia's Number 1 marks the first female artist over 40 to top the Billboard Hot 100 in 16 years, since Madonna's Music in 2000, when she was 42. A year before that, Cher led the way with Believe for four weeks at the age of 52.

In the UK, Cheap Thrills just missed out on the top spot, peaking at Number 2 for four weeks in April/May. She previously topped the Official Singles Chart as a guest on David Guetta's Titanium in February 2012. Check out her full Official UK Chart history here.

Cheap Thrills gives featured artist Sean Paul his fourth US Number 1 and first in ten years, following Get Busy (2003), Baby Boy (with Beyonce, 2003) and Temperature (2006).

Elsewhere on this week's Billboard Hot 100, Calvin Harris and Rihanna's This Is What You Came For lifts 4 to 3, and The Chainsmokers' Don't Let Me Down completes the Top 5.

Further down, Katy Perry's new single Rise just misses out on a Top 10 debut, landing at Number 11 this week, and Britney Spears' latest track Make Me starts at Number 17, marking her 34th Billboard Hot 100 hit.
