Peter Gabriel overtakes ATEEZ for Number 1 album - final three-way race with Michael Bublé begins
Peter Gabriel has overtaken ATEEZ in the race for this week's UK Official Number 1 album, but as we enter the final 12 hours of proceedings, things are getting tense as Michael Bublé makes a last-minute dash for the top too.
As things currently stand, British pop maverick Peter Gabriel's i/o (Bright-Side Mix) is chugging towards a Number 1 debut tomorrow. If it manages to hold on, it would become Gabriel's third career Number 1 album, in the UK, and first since So in 1986.
i/o is the first album of original material by Gabriel in 21 years, and has been in the works for over three decades. Containing 12 tracks, the album has released with two different mixes; Bright-Side and Dark-Side.
As for ATEEZ, the K-pop eight-piece boyband - comprised of Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho - have been pushed down to Number 2 with their new EP THE WORLD EP.FIN : WILL.
But don't count the boys out just yet, as there's less than 1,000 chart units between the two acts, so whoever makes it to Number 1 tomorrow really is up to you.
Much has been made of the impending Christmas Invasion of the Official Singles Chart tomorrow, but things are looking to get very festive on the Albums Chart too. Michael Bublé's former chart-topper - and festive chart staple - Christmas LP is also rushing to re-enter the Top 3 at the last mintue.
The Canadian crooner could also perform a stunning coup for Number 1 with the growing popularity of the album as each day in December passes. As of the time of writing, Bublé is trailing Gabriel by little under 3,000 chart units...but it this could all change in 12 hours!
The UK's Number 1 album will be revealed live tomorrow on the Official Chart on Radio 1 from 4pm with the Official Albums Chart Top 100 published in full online here at Official Charts at 5.45pm.
