New festive songs by Jess Glynne and Justin Bieber are on course to enter the Top 40 on this week's Official Singles Chart.
Both artists have recorded covers of Christmas favourites, exclusively available through Amazon as part of their Originals series. Glynne has released a rendition of Donny Hathaway's This Christmas, while Bieber has opted for a cover of Brenda Lee's Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree.
According to today's Official Singles Chart Update (Nov. 23), Bieber's track has rocketed 64 places to Number 29, while Glynne's This Christmas is a new entry at Number 37.
This Christmas is a possible contender for the 2020 Official Christmas Number 1, with signed CD and vinyl singles available to purchase from Amazon UK on Friday December 18 - the start of the Christmas Number 1 race ahead of its reveal on December 25.
“I chose This Christmas by Donny Hathaway as I love the tone of this record and I’m thankful that Amazon Music have given me the opportunity to do my own version of it for them,” Glynne said. “This year has been such a hard one and there’s no doubt this Christmas is going to be difficult for so many people. Music is so important as it gives us moments of escapism and I think more than ever having an uplifting feel good song is so necessary."
One of last year's yuletide Amazon exclusives was River, a Joni Mitchell cover performed by Ellie Goulding, which reached Number 1 on the final Official Chart of 2019, giving Ellie her first chart topper in four years.
Meanwhile, popular Christmas favourites from Mariah Carey, Wham! and The Pogues are all on course to land inside this week's Top 20 - Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You leads the charge at Number 12.
