ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Mariah Carey has announced a new mini-documentary as part of her All I Want for Christmas Is You 25th anniversary celebrations.
Mariah Carey is Christmas: The Story of All I Want for Christmas Is You will be released exclusively on Amazon Music later this month, and give insight into how the classic track was made.
There's features from one of Mariah's longtime collaborators, record producer and American Idol judge Randy Jackson, and Trey Lorenz, her backing singer and friend.
To commemorate AIWFCIY's landmark birthday, Mariah has reissued her Christmas album and is releasing the single on cassette CD, 7” and 12” formats. A new version of the music video featuring unreleased footage is out now and will surely help boost its streaming numbers even further.
All I Want for Christmas Is You peaked at Number 2 in the UK on release in 1994, being held off Number 1 by East 17's Stay Another Day. The track has re-entered the Top 40 for the last 13 consecutive years, and returned to its peak in 2017 and 2018.
It's not the only Amazon exclusive making waves on this festive season. Ellie Goulding's cover of Joni Mitchell's Christmas song River can only be streamed on Amazon Music and is currently heading for a Top 40 debut on this Friday's Official Singles Chart. Amazon Prime is also the only platform to stream GRAMMY winner Kacey Musgraves' TV special The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show.
