It's not Christmas until Mariah says so, and the festive season has now officially begun, with the release of a deluxe version of her classic Christmas album.

Originally released in 1994, Merry Christmas now comes with previously unreleased songs and bonus material, including music recorded at Mariah's live shows from the Cathedral of St John the Divine in New York 25 years ago.

There's also a new take on Sugar Plum Fairy; The Star, from the festive movie of the same name; lots of remixes; a collaboration with John Legend, When Christmas Comes; and loads more. That's a lot to unwrap!

Mariah kicked off Christmas in typically understated fashion on social media this morning, with a phone call from Father Christmas himself. Even Santa Claus know that Mariah is the true queen of Christmas.

But that's not all: Mariah is also celebrating 25 years of her signature festive smash All I Want For Christmas Is You. The track will be reissued on new, collectible physical formats: CD, 7" and 12" vinyl, and a special green cassette, which include pop-out Christmas decorations to help you Mariah up your home. There's also a brand new version of the video, featuring previously unseen footage.

Upon original release, Merry Christmas peaked at Number 32, and is one of the bestselling Christmas albums of the century, racking up 320,000 combined sales. All I Want For Christmas is You was famously blocked from the 1994 Christmas Number 1 slot by East 17 ballad Stay Another Day. Since downloads of old songs began to count toward the chart in 2007, All I Want For Christmas is You has returned to the Top 40 every year, and has gone Top 10 four times. In 2017 and 2018 it matched its original peak and was the Christmas Number 2. See where all Mariah's singles and albums have charted in the UK

All I Want For Christmas is You is one of the biggest selling songs of all time in the UK, and is now on 2.21 million combined sales, including over 100 million streams.

The deluxe version of Merry Christmas is available to buy and stream now – the All I Want For Christmas Is You physical formats are out December 20.

So true. I have been wishing for her to release the original cover that she had done prior to Faith doing it. She had it done but due to a dispute with them Tommy Mottola, she gave the song to Faith instead. That's why all Faith's inflections and tones of the song are Mariah carey as that is how she sang the song. Faith had her copy and just redid it Mariahs way...
