FIFTY FIFTY make UK chart history as Cupid becomes first K-pop girl group Top 10 song
FIFTY FIFTY claim a huge feat today, as Cupid becomes the first-ever song by a K-pop girl group to reach the Official Singles Chart Top 10.
The ATTRAKT-formed band - comprising Saena, Aran, Keena and Sio - boast something yet to be achieved by such K-pop girl groups as BLACKPINK, NewJeans and Twice as viral hit Cupid breaks the Top 10 to claim a new Number 9 peak today.
As it climbs nine spots to become the first-ever Top 10 by a K-pop girl group, Cupid's success proves the genre's ever-growing popularity in the UK.
In 2020, BLACKPINK scored their first-ever UK Top 40 single with Lady Gaga collaboration Sour Candy; with the track lifted from Gaga's Chromatica album peaking at Number 17.
The group also secured the first-ever UK Number 1 album by a K-pop girl group last year, when their second studio record Born Pink reached the summit.
More recently, members of K-pop boy band BTS have seen phenomenal UK success with their solo output.
In March of this year, Jimin scored the group's first solo Top 10 single with Like Crazy (8); beating his own record scored just one week prior with Top 40 hit Set Me Free - Pt 2 (30).
