Calvin Harris and Sam Smith eye the Number 1 spot with Promises

Plus, Eninem dominates the Top 10, and there are big climbs for LSD, and Freya Ridings.

Things are looking pretty promising for Calvin Harris, as the Scottish DJ and producer eyes his tenth UK Number 1 with Sam Smith collaboration Promises.

Vocalist Sam Smith would gain his seventh chart-topper if Promises can hold firm and stay at Number 1 when the chart is announced on Friday.

Last week's Number 1, Eastside from Benny Blanco and Halsey slips a place, but with only 2,683 combined sales separating it from Calvin and Sam, it ain't over yet.

New entries and climbers

Following the surprise release of his tenth studio album Kamikaze last Friday, Eminem dominates the Top 10, with three potential new entries. The Ringer comes in highest, at 4, while Lucky You starts at 7, and Greatest lands at 9.

Dance supergroup LSD – made up of Labrinth, Sia, and Duplo – are on track for their first UK Top 40 together, as Thunderclouds vaults 25 slots to Number 22, and singer-songwriter Freya Ridings climbs 10 places to settle at 26 today with Lost Without You.

The Baby Shark phenomenon continues as Pinkfong's viral hit climbs seven to Number 30, and London rapper AJ Tracey could score his second UK Top 40 this week: LO(V/S)ER starts at 37.

I like that 'Promises' is heading for #1 on Friday & I'm also happy that 'Eastside' got at least one week at the top; both are among the better #1s of 2018 so far.
I'm very surprised Eminem managed three songs in the Top 10... he probably would've had his entire album charting if the new rules weren't in place.
I really want to see 'Lost Without You' become a bigger hit; that song is growing on me a lot! :)

I dont think the race is over yet though Piran, Eastside could well still be number 1 by Friday, it didnt make no.1 until the end of the week last week so it could push up, I think it will be a close one again but no doubt if promises isn't no.1 this week it will certainly be in the very near future.
Loving thunderclouds too is a great track, I liked audio also. Is crazy that it's taken an advert to push and LSD track into the higher end of the charts when they are already 3 huge artists.
Loving lost without you too, it's a great track and is certainly nice to hear a different style of music in the charts for a change.

Oh yeah, it's by all means still possible. 'Promises' is absolutely going to #1 eventually though, but it seems to have picked up enough on streaming now that I think it'll keep that lead for Friday!
'Thunderclouds' is growing on me a little bit, but I've always loved 'Lost Without You'. It appears both are rising up the charts almost all because of their sudden boost in sales.

Could you tell me what the new rule is please . Thanks

The rule is that a maximum of three songs from the same album can chart simultaneously inside the Top 100.
Also, songs that have been in the chart for 10 weeks & have been declining for three consecutive weeks have a 300:1 streaming ratio instead of the normal 150:1 one.

Yeah, if 'Promises' already had a 3,000 combined sales over 'Eastside' on Monday & then the video came out, that should be enough to give the former a lock for #1. We'll see what happens later...
