UNREAL UNEARTH
by HOZIER
Hozier's third album is an ambitious affair framed about Dante's concept of the nine circles of Hell. Written during the Covid-19 pandemic, it finds the Irish musician singing in his native tongue for the first time and collaborating with songwriters including Drake producer Daniel Tannenbaum and Miley Cyrus associate Jennifer Decilveo.
Musically, it's an eclectic set that pings between piano ballads, rock stompers, uplifting folk-pop, a country-flecked duet with Brandi Carlile, and tracks with an Afrobeats influence. Home to the soulful hit Eat Your Young, which reached Number 22 on the Official Singles Chart, Unreal Unearth became Hozier's first ever UK Number 1 album. He had previously peaked at Number 3 with his eponymous 2014 debut and Number 6 with his 2019 follow-up Wasteland, Baby!.
