The Inbetweeners set to become one of 2011’s biggest sellers

The big screen adaptation of E4’s hit comedy show, The Inbetweeners, is set to become one of the biggest selling DVD and Blu-ray releases of 2011, according to the latest sales data from the Official Charts Company.

Having sold over 808,000 copies since its release on Monday (December 12), The Inbetweeners Movie, has already become the fastest selling comedy release of the year, and the third fastest selling video release of the year overall, after Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2.

With sales expected to hit over a million copies before the week is over, not only will it top this week’s Official Video Chart, but it is also likely to become one of the Top 5 biggest selling DVDs and Blu-rays of 2011.

“By the end of this week, The Inbetweeners Movie should have racked up 1 million sales over the counter,” said the Official Chart Company’s managing director, Martin Talbot. “Even for this time of the year, that is a great result – and puts it well on the way to becoming the biggest comedy DVD of the year so far. If it carries on at this rate, it will sit alongside Love Actually, The Full Monty and Hot Fuzz as one of the biggest British comedy DVDs of all time!”
