Madonna is recording new music with Mirwais, who produced her American Life and Music albums

Madonna last worked with the French producer Mirwais 13 years ago.

Madonna is seemingly back in the recording studio and reunited with longtime collaborator Mirwais.

The superstar has been working on her 14th studio album since the start of 2018, posting regular (but still cryptic) updates from the studio.

French record producer and songwriter Mirwais worked on several tracks for Madonna's 2000 album Music, including hit single Don't Tell Me, co-produced her entire American Life album in 2003 and co-wrote Future Lovers on her 2005 record Confessions On A Dance Floor. Madonna posted a clip of herself singing to an unknown song online, clarifying it wasn't a new track of hers but that she was "having fun in the studio between takes", tagging Mirwais.

Mirwais released three albums between 1981 and 2000 and has remixed songs for Mika, Uffie and Franz Ferdinand but hasn't worked with an artist on an album project since Madonna's Confessions record.

Madonna's last album, Rebel Heart, saw her assemble an array of hit producers, including Diplo, Ariel Rechtshaid and Avicii. The collection peaked at Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart, pipped to the post by Sam Smith's debut In The Lonely Hour.

Madonna has scored a seriously impressive 13 Number 1 singles and 12 Number 1 albums in the UK - look back at her complete chart history here.
