Lizzo announces release of fourth album Special and drops new single About Damn Time

Lizzo has dropped a new single, About Damn Time, and announced the release of her upcoming fourth album. 

Her first long-player since 2019's Cuz I Love You is called Special and will drop July 15 via Nice Life and Atlantic. 

The album is teased by its lead single, the funk-inspired disco number About Damn Time, which is produced by long-time collaborator Ricky Reed (Truth Hurts, Juice). 

Watch the irreverent video for About Damn Time - directed by Christian Breslauer - below. It features Lizzo leaving "Streessed & Sexy" therapy, before performing a sparkly dance routine.

Special is available for pre-order now. It will be made up of 12 tracks and apparently, super-producer Max Martin is involved. Lizzo also posted clips of her working in the studio with Mark Ronson last year.

One song that isn't involved in the new record, however, is last year's buzz single Rumours featuring Cardi B, which appears to have not made the cut (it debuted at peaked at Number 20 on the Official Singles Chart).

In 2019, Lizzo's third album (and first on a major label) Cuz I Love You became one of the breakout records of the year, containing her first Top 10 single Good As Hell, as well as the further two Top 40 Truth Hurts and Juice.
