Lil Nas X's record-breaking stint at Number 1 in America is over as Old Town Road is knocked off the top by Billie Eilish's Bad Guy

The rapper's reign at the top finally ends after 19 weeks at the top of the US singles chart.

Lil Nas X's record-breaking reign at Number 1 in America has officially come to an end.

Billie Eilish's Bad Guy takes over at the top of this week's Billboard Hot 100, ending the rapper's 19-week stint at the top. It's the longest-leading US chart-topper of all time, recently overtaking Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's One Sweet Day, which held the record for 24 years.

Bad Guy lifts from 2 to 1 after an agonising nine weeks in the runner-up slot. A new remix of the track featuring Billie's childhood hero Justin Bieber helped boost the song to the summit.

"congratulations to billie eilish!! u deserve this!!" Lil Nas X wrote on Twitter, later adding on Instagram: "this is the first week in 5 months old town road hasn’t been number 1. this journey had taught me so much!"

He also teased that the music video for his latest single Panini is "coming soon".

Billy Ray Cyrus, who features on Old Town Road, added: "Congratulations @billieeilish Well deserved. Your persistence paid off. Thanks everybody. It was a hell of a ride."

Old Town Road slips to Number 3 on this week's US singles chart, while Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's Senorita lifts from 3 to 2.

On the UK's Official Singles Chart, Old Town Road spent two weeks at Number 1 and seven weeks at Number 2. The song currently ranks as the UK's fourth biggest of 2019 so far
