Drake has hit a new streaming milestone, becoming the first artist ever to pass 50 billion combined streams on Spotify.

The feat was confirmed by Spotify to Variety, though Drake had already celebrated the landmark moment, posting an image of himself with a celebratory drink on Instagram.

Drake's feat shouldn't come as much of a surprise - the rapper and singer was Spotify's most-streamed artist of the 2010s, with 28 billion streams.

His 2016 chart-topper One Dance is the platform's most-played song ever, with 1.97 billion streams, while 2018 single God's Plan has 1.67 billion plays.

The rapper's last studio album, Scorpion, also set a one-day global record for album streams with 132,450,203 million plays in its first day of release.

Drake's lead on streaming is likely to get a further boost in the next few weeks, as he is expected to release his new album Certified Lover Boy this month.

How the is One Dance the most Streamed song on Spotify with 1.97B streams, when tracks such as Shape Of You, Dance Monkey and Rockstar have over 2B streams each, as do around 4 other tracks, if all versions of those tracks are added, such as Despacito, Perfect, Closer and Old Town Road.

Extremely poor research and journalism skills OCC!

Their articles are always littered with errors/ inconsistencies

Yeah Lee, you're not wrong. They seem bereft of consistency as well, often changing sales numbers nilly, that seem completely at odds with numbers previously given. I seriously believe they actually just make some stuff up. Bit of sham organisation IMO.
