Ariana Grande's thank u, next breaks Spotify streaming record as the fastest song to reach 100 million plays

Ariana Grande has made music history this week as her new single thank u, next surpassed 100 million Spotify streams in just 11 days.

The current Official UK Number 1 was only released on November 3, but on November 14 the singer posted on Instagram that it had surpassed the 100 million mark on Spotify faster than any song before.

As if that wasn't enough, Grande has broken another Spotify record: the most-streamed female artist in a 24-hour period. thank u, next topped Taylor Swift's 2017 record of 9.1 million streams with an additional 500,000 plays.

It now holds fourth place for the most Spotify streams by any artist after Drake, Ed Sheeran and XXXTentacion.

The break-up anthem debuted at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with impressive numbers last week after a surprise late release on November 3. It's currently in the lead to hold on to that spot for a second week.
