Royal Blood - comprised of vocalist and bassist Mike Kerr (from Worthing, West Sussex, born June 19 1990) and drummer Ben Thatcher (from Rustington, West Sussex, born February 12, 1988) - are an English rock duo formed in Brighton in 2011. Royal Blood met at a gig when Mike tried to hit on a girl, not knowing it was Ben's girlfriend. In 2013 Royal Blood signed with label Warner Records and to Wildlife Management, the same management company Arctic Monkeys, who went onto to promote Royal Blood at Glastonbury 2013 when drummer Matt Helders wore one of the band's t-shirts. Royal Blood were nominated in the BBC's Sound Of... 2014 poll before releasing their self-titled debut album later that year. Royal Blood - the album - entered the Official Albums Chart at Number 1, becoming the UK's fastest-selling British rock debut album in three years. The album was nominated for the 2014 Mercury Prize and helped the band win Best British Group at the 2015 BRIT Awards. Royal Blood's second studio album How Did We Get So Dark? debuted at Number 1 on the UK Albums Chart in June 2017.
