Today's Official Video Chart Update pits two massive franchises against one another, with X-Men Apocalypse leading the way with superb midweek sales.

The third in the latest generation of X-Men movies has shifted 97,000 DVDs and Blu-rays at the halfway mark, ahead of Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman's magic-related movie Now You See Me 2 at Number 2.

Should Apocalypse - which stars Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy - hold onto its lead by Sunday, it will be the second X-Men franchise film to reach Number 1 on the Official Video Chart. Deadpool sat at the chart's peak for three weeks, and is one of 2016's biggest selling movies so far.
