The Oscar-nominated tale of Queen Victoria and her unlikely companion is proving popular on the DVD market this week.

Victoria & Abdul starring Dame Judi Dench is leading the way on this week's Official Video Chart Update, a midweek snapshot of the UK's DVD and Blu-ray sales in the lead up to Sunday's final standings.

The period movie, nominated for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling at the 90th Academy Awards, has shifted 39,000 units after three days on sale, some 20,000 copies ahead of its nearest rival, last week's Number 1, IT.

But that's not the only new entry impacting this week's Top 5. Series 4 of the incredibly popular BBC drama Peaky Blinders starring Cillian Murphy is at Number 3 in today's Update, while Jeremy Renner murder mystery Wind River sits at Number 4. The Top 5 at the halfway mark is rounded out by Best Picture nominee at the Oscars, Dunkirk (5).

New entries and high climbers

In a busy week for new entries, the next highest is Jennifer Lawrence thriller mother! at Number 6, one slot ahead of Doctor Who: Twice Upon A Time, the series' Christmas special and final episode featuring Peter Capaldi as the famous timelord (7).

Following the reveal of the trailer for The Incredibles 2, the original movie from 2004 is spiking up the Official Video Chart, re-entering at Number 9 on today's Update. Close behind at Number 14 the complete series set of Peaky Blinders, a box set featuring all four seasons.

Bruce Willis action flick L.A. Vengeance is charging its way to a Number 22 debut, and finally, Shia LaBeouf starring Borg vs McEnroe, the retelling of the classic tennis rivalry between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe, has served its way to Number 25.
