The Magnificent Seven starring Denzel Washington aiming to become best-selling DVD of the week

This Western film certainly can't be classed as tumbleweed.

Denzel Washington's latest home entertainment release is heading for Number 1 on the Official Video Chart.

In today's Chart Update, which is an indicator of the best-selling physical DVD and Blu-ray of the week, The Magnificent Seven, a western starring Denzel, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke, has shifted 44,000 copies after four days on sale, over three times the amount of the second highest new entry this week.

That aforementioned fellow newbie is the fourth season BBC's Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, which lands at Number 2, ahead of Trainspotting which will potentially rise one place to Number 3 following the sequel's release in cinemas.

New entries and high climbers

Glenn Close-starring post-apocalytic zombie horror The Girl with All the Gifts is on course for this week's Number 5, one slot ahead of Disney short Frozen Fever, which has scaled a whopping 79 places to 6 at the halfway mark.

2016's The Blair Witch Project sequel - simply titled Blair Witch - is new at 7, while The Infiltrator starring Bryan Cranston lands at 9. There are more new entries from comedy drama Captain Fantastic at 14, and Steven Seagal's Killing Salazar could debut at 17.

Doctor Who's 2016 Christmas special The Return of Doctor Mysterio has received a DVD release and is currently sitting at Number 19. Finally, anticipation for the cinematic release of Fifty Shades Darker is growing, and the original rebounds 16 positions to Number 31.
