Last night saw the second annual iHeartRadio Awards in LA, and it was a good night for Taylor Swift.

Following the global success of Taylor's fifth album 1989, the star took home three awards, including Song Of The Year for Shake It Off and Artist Of The Year.

It was a big night for Sam Smith too – he topped off a stellar year since his breakthrough performance on US TV show Saturday Night Live with the gong for Best New Artist.

Other British winners were Jessie J, who shared her Best Collaboration award for Bang Bang with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. Calvin Harris also won an award – he beat Naughty Boy, Mr Probz and his own collaboration with Joh Newman to take home the prize for Dance Song of the Year.

There was an extra treat for Taylor fans – the star took to the stage with Madonna to give her a hand performing new single Ghosttown. The big surprise was that Taylor didn't actually do any singing; she accompanied Madonna on guitar and left all the vocals to Madge herself.

Another big performance on the night was from Rihanna, who debuted her brand new single Bitch Better Have My Money on stage. The track entered the Official Singles Chart at Number 29 yesterday after just two days on sale.
