Paddington set to become fastest selling DVD of the year

After a blistering few days, StudioCanal’s Paddington movie looks set to become the fastest selling video title of 2015 as it soars to number 1 in the Official Video Chart this Sunday.

The film is currently outselling the remaining titles in the Top 20, notching almost 280,000 copies with three chart days still to go, based on the latest Official Charts Company data.

If it continues at the same pace, it will overtake last week’s No. 1 title, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, which sold 318, 000 copies in its first week, to notch the biggest opening week of the year to date.

Paddington will be StudioCanal’s second No. 1 title of the month, following The Imitation Game two weeks ago – the Benedict Cumberbatch-starring movie is set for number 3 this Sunday.

Two other new entries in the Top 10 are on course for this Sunday’s Top 10 - The Homesman (on course for Number 5) and The Drop (6).

Elsewhere in the chart, The Maze Runner and Gone Girl are set to climb 16 places, both returning to the Top 10. 20th Century Fox are set to have three titles in the Top 10 - The Drop, The Maze Runner and Gone Girl.
