Ocean Tisdall returns with shimmering party anthem Crying Room

The new track sounds like a downbeat scene from Skins or Euphoria brought to life.

Rising Irish alt-pop star Ocean Tisdall is back, back, back again with a shimmering new single called Crying Room.

We were massive fans of Ocean's White Lies here at Irish Charts at the beginning of the year; a sinister synth-pop tune which saw Ocean dig his own grave in its macabre music video.

Now Ocean is ready un-veil the second taster of a forthcoming EP, written in part during lockdown in a creepy, familial abandoned mansion deep in the Irish countryside (no, really).

Co-written with Ocean alongside creative director Seven, co-producer Mort and Bethia, Crying Room takes Ocean's dark-pop lens into deeper, more emotional territory.

"Crying Room to me is the epitome of growing up in Gen Z," Ocean said in a statement. "Sometimes we allow our emotions to control the outcome of our reality and it’s so hard not letting that ruin core memories in our life."

"As a generation we tend to use alcohol and partying as a distraction from reality and the stresses of growing up in today’s society, so the idea that as soon as a single tear falls from your eye you would be dragged away into the crying room really excited me."

Crying Room is out now Universal Music Ireland. An EP is expected later this year.
