MTV to broadcast the Official Streaming Chart

The UK’s only Official Streaming Chart will be revealed every Monday on MTV Music.

The Official Charts Company are pleased to announce that MTV are set to begin broadcasting the Official Streaming Chart.

The first Top 20 countdown will air on MTV Music from 5pm today (Monday, April 14) and it will also be broadcast on MTV Hits and VIVA, while the full Top 100 will also be published on www.officialcharts.com.

On average, the British public are streaming over 230 million tracks each week, according to Official Charts Company data.

The Official Streaming Chart is the only industry recognised chart of its kind, and is based on audio streams generated by a range of services serving the UK including Spotify, Deezer, Napster, Bloom FM and O2 Tracks among others. The chart covers streams across seven days, from 00.01 Sunday to Saturday midnight every week.

As part of the launch, MTV will also broadcast a show counting down the most streamed tracks of the year so far (up to the end of quarter 1 2014) over the weekend of April 26 & 27 on MTV Music.

MTV’s existing portfolio of Official Charts, include the Official UK Top 40,the Official Download Singles Chart, the Official Singles Chart Update, the Official Urban Chart and the Official Dance Chart.
