Miley Cyrus is hosting the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards

The singer confirms she will host next month's ceremony in Los Angeles.

Get ready for even more controversy at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards: Miley Cyrus has announced that she will be hosting this year's ceremony.

The singer confirmed on Twitter that she is fronting this year's awards, after quipping: "MTV wouldn't let me perform... so I'm hosting this year's VMAs".

Miley has caused a stir at the last two VMAs; for her risque twerking with Robin Thicke in 2013 and for sending a homeless man on stage to collect her award last year.

The 32nd MTV Video Music Awards will air on August 30 at 9pm and is expected to be held at the at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.

This last time the show appointed a main host was in 2012, when comedian Kevin Hart took on presenting duties.
