Justin Bieber scores his first US Number 1 single with What Do You Mean

The star's latest track achieves the rare feat of landing straight in at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

The success of Justin Bieber's What Do You Mean continues as the the track lands straight in at Number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Billboard reports that the song shifted 337,000 downloads and was streamed 23.3 million times to enter at Number 1, and becomes the 23rd song in US chart history to debut at the top. 

What Do You Mean has now topped the charts in 12 countries and recently became his first UK Number 1 single and broke the record for the most-streamed track (3.2 million) during its first week on sale. 

Elsewhere in this week's Top 10, The Weeknd's The Hills reaches a new peak at Number 3, and Skrillex, Diplo and Justin Bieber's Where Are U Now jumps three spots to enter the Top 10 at 10. 

Following the unveiling of its music video at the MTV VMAs, Taylor Swift debuts at Number 15 with Wildest Dreams and Macklemore's Downtown is the week's highest climber, vaulting 76 places to 18. 

Outside the Top 40, Hailee Steinfeld's Love Myself leaps eight places to 44, Tori Kelly's Should've Been Us zooms from 75 to 51, and Halsey's New Americana debuts at 97.
